I just got a MiniFreak as well, picked up used for USD 450 and it is next-level awesome. So much fun to be had, and so much depth for an inexpensive synth. Things I love that I didn’t expect, because I didn’t really watch many videos about it beforehand:
- Flexible ribbons (macros + gate/spice)
- 3 FX slots (I thought it was only 2!)
- Supercharged sequencer
- The under-the-hood Sound Edit options
I’ve owned the MicroFreak for several years and love it, it’s quite a beast when you dive in. The Mini is everything great about the Micro times 10, and the ability to play with the soft synth and sync work back and forth is just awesome. I’ve been experimenting lately with a Digitakt II that I picked up on a good deal as well. I’m taking both of them with me on vacation to play around, do resampling from the MiniFreak, etc. Can’t wait!
