Latency

I am curious what kind of round trip latency does everyone get with the 16 rig in 2025? After all the updates ?

Is it still the 8.1ms and 7.9ms reported in the reviews at 64 and 32 buffer size ? This woukd he a 48khz.

Or I read it went down with an update ? I use ableton even though it doesnt matter a whole lot.

Anyone know if there were updates or its still just the same ?

In Magix Sequoia, 48KHz:
Buffer 32: latency In 2mS / Out 4mS
Buffer 64: latency In 3mS/ Out 4mS

Windows 10

Problem is that with every USB interface, latency is not repeatable from session to session.
If you close your DAW and reopen, latency will be different even with same settings.
If you turn the computer off and then on again, restart the session, different latency again.

The same happens with every USB interface.

This first image shows the original impulse, a half wave (positive) 1 sample impulse in the green track.
The grey track is the recording, direct Out to In, from the 16rig.
I adjusted the positioning for the grey track so that it falls exactly where the original impulse starts.

The “distorted” aspect of the impulse recorded through 16rig is the result of the Minimum Phase option used in 16rig’s ADCs (this was discussed in another thread)

So, in the first image the signals are aligned and start simultaneously.

In this second image (above) i did restart the DAW and made a new recording of the impulse.
The resulting wave (in the grey track) is now 72 samples before the original impulse.

Restart the DAW and…

…the recorded impulse is now 25 samples before the original impulse.

A new DAW restart and…

…13 samples before the original single sample impulse.

This is not an Arturia or a 16rig fault.
This is a problem with all USB interfaces.

The only way to obtain repeatable latency times is with either PCI/PCIe or Thunderbolt interfaces.
