Revisting this: Anyone know if Arturia plans to Map controls for the full version of an Arturia VSTi if you choose to “Open” it from within the ALpro GUI?
(it always throws me if I have full Synth open and the mappings don’t work as expected)
And if you choose to open the full VSTi in its standalone mode, do you have to use a USER Bank to Map them? (i.e. Melotron)
Thanks
Ok, so you know the difference between Full Plugin version Vs ALpro version of a given Synth. The fact that the Macro control in AL doesn’t necessarily map to individual parameters of the full Plug and even have different titles like “Brightness” or “Time” etc. (Unless I’m misunderstanding).
Some of the more fundamental controls like “Attack” or “Release” are screwed up once I move them via the KLMK3. For example in Melotron {Note: Full plugin opened via Alpro} the Attack parameter begins from half way and doesn’t reach its max. There are many examples of this on other Synth for me). And once that happens, if I try and use the mouse to control the outer Macros instead of the plugin itself, they no longer correlate with the Full plugin. Its all messed up and the Min/Max values are lost.
Thanks
Btw: There are only 6 USER slots in total so you must be very selective.
First: Assigning midi CC’s to a control, and assigning parameters to a Macro is two different things.
I think the main point here is there are differences. Analog Lab is it’s own application.
When you open a preset in Analog Lab that’s created in a full individual instrument, then the parameters assigned to the intruments Macros are already assigned to Analog Labs Macros as a link to the instrument macro, so it control the parameters assigned to that Macro control.
Beside that you can actually inside Analog Lab add parameters to Analog Lab’s Macros. Please consult the Analog Lab manual sections “3.5.3. Macros Tab”, - “3.5.3.1. Assigning Parameters to a Macro” and - “3.5.3.2. Macros and Multis”. There are images in the manual too.
But perhaps it’s better to do this in the full instrument. That’s up to you.
Beside that you can also click on the name for any Performance control (knobs and sliders) in Analog Lab beside the 4 knobs assigned to the Macros, to assign them to control something else. That can even be a parameter in a instrument you open inside Analog Lab.
Click the “assign” in the menu that appear, when you click the name.
The Macro names for single presets have been named in the instrument.
You can name Macros in the applications by double clicking on the name of the macro and then type a name.
When your Keylab MK3 as MIDI Controller is selected in the MIDI tab in the right panel, then your hardware should already be midi CC mapped to the software.
When parameters does’nt move full range, then it’s because a range is set in one way or another.
In generel i suggest you look more the manuals and try things out. Also spend some time to explore the applications.
I think I imagine in some update one Day, that the mappings might switch when opening the full synth in ALpro.
Yes your reply makes sense. They should be thought of as different plugins and therefore often different mappings and paramter ranges for the sake of “short hand” sound design in ALpro.
I understand this view. However, then it had to take over from the Analog Lab mapping as they can use the same midi CC’s.
Also keep in mind, that a Analog Lab multi can contain two different instruments.
II know nothing about the future. But this topic is’nt as simple as it might seem.
Cheers
