Hi everyone!
I’m new to the forum, so please be kind if I miss anything.
I’ve recently started using the Keystep/Beatstep series and I’m still learning. Since getting the Keystep 37, I’ve noticed a strange phenomenon: When I play normally, everything works fine. However, as soon as I start recording, notes randomly trigger twice (likely on note-off). This issue is particularly noticeable when playing chords. The final recording is perfectly fine, so the double triggers only occur while recording, which isn’t ideal for live scenarios. This happens with multiple synths, so I suspect the issue lies with the Keystep.
Here’s a bit more about my setup: The Keystep is clocked by the Beatstep Pro via MIDI. I considered the possibility of a MIDI loop, but I’ve muted all MIDI messages going to the Keystep except real-time messages, so it should only be receiving the clock signal. I’m using a MOTU MIDI Timepiece for routing and filtering. Additionally, the Keystep 37 is set to send on MIDI Channel 4 and receive on Channel 16, just to be safe. Therefore, I’m fairly confident that the problem isn’t caused by MIDI loops.
Do you have any other ideas or suggestions?
I’ve made a video to show the problem in more detail:
