Keystep pro lemons

I have bought 3 different keystep pros and they were all lemons. I have reached out with the store I bought from and arturia customer service too.

All three of them had knobs that lock up and become unusable. All of them had faulty step sequencers and midi controls. All of them were purchased from Perfect Circuit in Burbank, CA.

Has anybody had a similar experience with these?

Yes, except I only bought one, on preorder, tried to troubleshoot, then tried to return/exchange but was only told to firmware update. Years later, it’s a lemon, the CV/Gate outputs only work half of the time, the Arp on track 3 will randomly spit out crazy notes, the metronome speaker is completely broken/silent, there is a stuck light on one of the knobs, my sequencer will auto fill in notes that I have recorded in the past, even if I clear the entire pattern. It really sucks (this one drives me CRAZY). I feel like I was punished for buying it so early and during pandemic, and I’m so burnt by it. Tbh, it feels like the Keystep 37 is a muuuuch more solid product, and with some cooler features like the strum.

I believe that I too am a victim of the Perfect Circuit Lemon KSPs. It was working fine for the first couple of weeks, then all of a sudden I couldn’t record notes from an arpeggio to a sequence, the drum gates stopped working properly, there’s other things as well. I’ve reached out to Arturia Support, but their customer support ticket system is very slow to respond and it seems like they aren’t even paying attention to what I’m saying in my emails. I specifically stated what my problem was and they sent back basically an excerpt from the manual explaining how the keystep pro works with DAWs. I never mentioned anything about working with a DAW. Now I’m still awaiting a response after having to restate what my problem was. I really hope that they will send me one that has been thoroughly tested and inspected. I’m going to reach out to Perfect Circuit tomorrow about this as well. I have been a large supporter of Arturia’s products for a long time now so I really hope this company does right by me. I’ve owned this controller for less than a year and have taken immaculate care of it.

I’ve had the same problem first one encoder won’t then the second encoder went now they want to send a completely new one. They want to replace it, which is kind of them, but the problem is if it’s the same encoders what’s the point they all need to be basically recalled and replaced with ones that will work a brand new one just a shot in the dark in the manufacturing process

Shipping delicate, easily-damaged hardware half way round the planet to different continents is a recipe for the end result not ending well on more occasions than those distributed within Europe and the UK. I think it’s absolutely no coincidence whatsoever that most of the hardware-difficulties are reported by non-European customers. But I don’t know what the answer is for a small company like Arturia that can’t afford to open a manufacturing facility in the States.

Actually I’m surprised there’s any hardware sales at all over in the States what with the import tarifs. Your leader wants you to purchase American goods in preference to goods manufactured elsewhere, but what exactly are you going to buy? Arturia is French, Native Instruments and Behringer are German, Novation is British, Nord is Swedish, and Korg is Japanese. Good luck.

Indeed! 🫨

I bought a rack mount compressor MANY years ago, got it out of the packaging, tried to place it on the work surface before mounting it in the rack, and it just started to rock on the table… i have no idea HOW, but it was even more bent than the pic above :exploding_head:
I took it back to the retailer, got it out of the box and put it on the counter, the owner didn’t even ask and just said ‘i’ll get you a new one’… :joy::stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes::stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
