I have just bought a KeyStep 37 Mk2 and am finding the Scale Mode functionality a bit confusing. I am on Firmware 1.0.4.920. It seems to work like this:
Power on KeyStep.
Press Shift + Chord to access Scale Mode
Press encoder to select Global Scale
Scroll through to e.g. Lydian and press Encoder
Keyboard now forces notes to C Lydian
Hold down shift and the little blue LED at the far right of the keyboard lights up to show it’s in one of scale modes other than Off, Major, Minor, Blues or User (although this is not available as a Global Scale I think).
Press Shift and top Ab to turn off Scale Mode
Keyboard is now back in chromatic mode.
Press the encoder again to select Global Scale
Scroll to Lydian and press encoder
Keyboard remains in chromatic mode and pressing Shift shows Scale Off.
Now you can only select scales using Shift and the keyboard keys.
The only way to use the menu is to power off the KeyStep and start again.
This doesn’t seem how it should work to me - I don’t see why you shouldn’t be able to re-select Lydian from the menu. Am I missing something or is this a bug?
