KeyLab mkII mapping messed up after switch to Mac

Hi everyone,

I am using a KeyLab MkII with Reaper and I just switched from Windows to Mac. On Windows, everything was working perfectly fine. Now on Mac, the Keylab behaves very strangely.

Some notes do not only create a sound but also control things on Reaper. For instance, I can switch on and off the metronome by playing an F of one particular octave. On the other hand, the faders in DAW mode simply do not connect with the track levels. In general, Reaper receives the fader inputs though, in Analog Lab mode, they connect with the VST parameters automatically.

I tried resetting the KeyLab to factory settings. In MIDI Control Center, I set the DAW mode mapping to Reaper. In Reaper, I have enabled the keylab for MIDI input and controls.

Solving this would make me so happy because it would finally allow me to use the KeyLab on a powerful machine  Does anyone have a clue why the mapping of the MIDI notes seems so entangled and off?

Best,
Toni

Hi @Tonimeloni. Welcome to the community.

This sound like a Reaper setup issue to me. I could be wrong though. Afterall i understand you already have had it working in Windows.
Have you followed the directions “FOR OTHER DAWS” in this FAQ article:

Perhaps Reaper for MAC have differences for the setup. I don’t use Reaper.

Hope this helps.

Hi LBH,

Thank you so much! Your post didn’t give the answer but you pointed me right to the problem!

So in Reaper, the KeyLab appears twice under input and output devices: Port 1, and Port 2. Apparently this has the reason to separate note data from control data used for DAW interactions like knobs and faders. The KeyLab seems to transport note data on port 1 and control data on port 2. So what did the trick in the end was to Reaper Settings → Control/OSC/Web, and setup the MCU inputs and output to KeyLab Port 2. Cause that’s the one you want to transport the control data in and out with! The description kinda implies it by giving the hint it’s called MIDIIN2 and MIDIOUT2 on windows here: https://support.arturia.com/hc/en-us/articles/4405748362002-KeyLab-MkII-Tips-Tricks

Thank you once again so much! I can now finally get going! Woohoo!

Best,
Toni

Your welcome @Tonimeloni.

Yeah. I posted the link for the wrong controller. Sorry. I overlooked the controller model.
You have posted the correct link.

Great it works.
Have fun now.
