Hi guys,
So I’m having a really bad experience with the keylab mk3 49. After buying the mk3, I tried playing with it. After just 1 session of playing with it, just used the Analog just to try it out, the screen stopped working.
Everything works, the MIDI control center receives all the inputs and I can configure the controller, but the screen is not working. The backlight is on, but no picture is shown. I even did a factory reset and still, the screen is not working.
I also tried to change the firmware to the first version and to the last version, but still nothing. Has anyone experienced anything like this?
I already contacted the support team but I’m kinda frustrated because I have this product for 24 hours and this happened.
Hi @captquack and welcome to The Sound Explorers Forum!
Sorry to hear you’re having problems with your new controller.
When you say you’ve tried ‘the analog’, i take it you mean The Analog Lab plugin? Just to clarify here.
If this is the case, have you set the AL plugin up for the controller too?
If not, let me know and i’ll, or one of the other mods, will walk you through it if you don’t know how.
Hi @matjones , thanks for the response!
Sorry not being specific, but yes, I’m using Analog Lab V, just to try some sounds, but I’m thinking of using the Ableton Live Lite (currently not using yet).
I don’t know if I have set the AL plugin. Is there a guide for that?
HI again @captquack and thanks for clarifying there.
There are a couple of settings in ALV that might need changing.
First make sure you’re on the same midi channel for each device. I’d encourage you to read through the KL MKIII manual yourself as it’s a very powerful controller with many features you might miss or not be aware of.
Hook your KL up to your computer with the supplied USB cable and then run the standalone version of ALV.
First click on the ‘hamburger’ icon, outlined in yellow below…
You’ll see a drop down menu, select ‘Audio Midi Settings’ and you’ll see the window below, bear in mind that we have different Audio interfaces, so the entries will be different, but similar in your system.
In the midi ports section, you should see an entry for your KL, (i don’t have a controller connected currently) you should select it.
Also, if you have an audio interface, instead of onboard sound, you should select that in the audio device/driver panels as it’ll give you better performance generally than onboard sound.
Once you’ve done that, click on the ‘cog wheel’ icon in the top right of the ALV GUI… in yellow in the pic below…
Select the ‘midi’ tab highlighted in yellow again, select keylab MKIII from the ‘midi controller’ drop down menu, again highlighted in yellow above.
Finally select your controller from the drop down menu ‘MIDI config’ and you SHOULD be up and running.
Let us know how you get on

Hi @matjones !
Thank you for your help. However, I already did that, so everything “was” set just like that and still nothing.
After technical support response, they suggested that it could be a hardware defect and I should return it. So, I’m going to do that and I’m going to acquire a new one.
Anyway, thanks for the time you spent on this matter

Hi @captquack
No worries, it’s always good to go through ‘the usual trouble shooting routine’ first though.
If you’ve already tried that though it DOES sound like a hardware issue, good to see support have suggested you get a replacement though.

Thanks for the update.
