Keyboard delete

Has anyone opened up a MF? We don’t need no stinkin’ warrantees! I played mine last week with a PolyAT controller and was blown away. I want to delete the MF keyboard and touchstrips like people do with the MicroFreak. No, I’m not scared of doing this and no I’m not going to buy a PB12. (because I already have one Hehe)

Just want to know if anyone has been in there. No matter what the responses, I’m cracking mine this weekend. I’ll take pictures.

Best reason ever to not buy a PB12

Yeah… people did this “all the time”(?) with the uF. There’s even a new bottom chassis available:
Microfreak Enclosure — 3DWaves .

For the MnF that will be a more brutal delete in comparison, thinking about the left hand controls and the steel chassis bottom plate. But it’s doable for sure, just takes a little bravery which you seem to have already!

Are you planning on making a replacement bottom chassis?

I’m going to scare the ladies in the pews, but I’ll likely cut the plastic chassis just above the keys and make an aluminum or wood front panel. I could make a new bottom plate, but it seems easier just to cut to fit, maintaining a couple of “tabs” to be bent up for the new front to attach to.

This is all predicated on “only” detaching a keyboard ribbon cable and touch strip cable and tucking them up in the chassis. Anything more than that and “I’ll have to science the shit out of this.”

If this goes well I’ll build a case for my controller with a Minimoog style hinged flip for the MF. With a 49 full size key controller, this would leave enough room to mount my Eventide H9Max on the right.

Even with the PB12 (and my MatrixBrute) I cannot begin to tell you what an absolutely brilliant synth the MB is. Best product Arturia ever made. If it had full sized Poly AT keys I’d pay $1500 for it and wouldn’t butcher my current one.

Spoonbender

PS sadly, it’s about 2 inches too big to mount in my old TRS80 computer case which I’ve been itching to put on a tulip stand and use for something for 10 years. Style>Comfort.

Sounds like a plan! You may be starting a trend here… Looking forward top the pics :+1:
