So let me see if I have this correct. If I add an external sound source, (in my case a finger drum pad) to my AstroLab, I’ll need to “assign” this to a preset to actually get the sound to be processed and sent to the balanced line outputs.
I presume I should use one of the special preset templates containing audio input in pigments?
Stuart.
Hi Stuart,
There are direct audio input presets in AstroLab via the Vocoder. But these are designed for a mic input, so you can try and see what a finger drum pad will do but the result may be surprising.
Thanks Lily. I’ll give it a try. I have a few of the audio input templates and they work except they still require a keyboard key be depressed and held. I can enable HOLD in the preset but haven’t found out how to disengage the velocity trigger so the audio stays alive for more than about 20 seconds. I’ll see what the vocoder template provides.
I wound up using a custom Korg MS-20 patch that just routes EXT OUT to MASTER IN.
Everything works fine now. No key press required.
I suggest such a patch be added to AnalogLab as part of the factory presets.
