I tried to record a preset at the beginning of a song and it didn’t work. Later on in the song I moved the drawbars and that worked. I just want to start the song with my preset

Do you mean recording automation/changes to your preset?
This is a function within your DAW; you typically enable it on the desired instrument track.
Thanks, you gave me the clue I needed. I’m using Cakewalk and in the midi track for the B3 there is bank and preset. I was able to do it there. I use Studiomix to change the drawbars in the middle of the song and it records it.
Studiomix has a feature SNAPSHOT that I’ve been able to just hit that button during record while the countoff is playing and it records the drawbar positions. For some reason it stopped working, possibly because of a new midi interface or an upgrade to Win 11 24H2. When I hit SNAPSHOT the data does record I see it in the midi data window, but it doesn’t change the drawbars back to that initial setting during the countoff
