I have the Arturia MiniLab 3 and Analog Lab V Intro. I prefer to use Mixcraft 10 for a DAW. When in Analog Lab V Intro I set up using Vocal Pluck which is a Melodic Sequence. In the piano roll in Mixcraft I see the notes I hit myself but not the Arp notes. Now if I used an actual arpeggio plugin, it would show the individual notes used. What’s the difference between the Melodic Sequences and arps? Is there a way to get the melodic sequence notes into the piano roll from Analog Lab V Intro? I suspect that Analog Lab V Intro isn’t sending the notes generated by the plugin but instead just the note that I hit on the keyboard itself.
Hi @TikaCarr. Welcome to the community.
Analog Lab do not output midi notes generated by sequencers running in the presets applications. The presets are made in the full instrument applications.
The Vocal Pluck is a preset designed/ created in Minifreak. It uses Minifreaks Sequencer.
What a sequence is is not set in stone. Normally you will say a sequence is a sequence of notes generated in one way or another (like by a sequencer) that play when the instrument receive a single note input.
An Arpeggio generate a sequence of notes based on the arpeggio mode an the note input.
Feel free to ask further questions if needed.
You are correct the note/s you play will be recorded.
Thank you. I think I see what you mean and that there is no way to get the sequencer’s notes into the Mixcraft piano roll. I am thinking of some workarounds for that but not sure yet. At least now I learned something new.
If Mixcraft have a tool that can convert audio to midi notes or you have such a tool elsewhere, then you can first create a audio recording and then use that tool to convert it to midi notes. The result will be static midi notes. Perhaps it’s easier to find out which notes are played?
Hey, that’s a great idea. I don’t know of any tool that is free that would do that though but I can search the web. I also was thinking if I could see what notes are being played on the plugin keyboard/controller graphic I could figure it out too but having some tool to do it for me would be a lot easier.
Does’nt a preset like the Vocal Pluck you mentioned do that?
Perhaps using a Tuner while playing slow can help.
Also you might be able to listen and find the notes while playing slow.
Keep in mind that many presets for example use Delay. That will not be seen as notes.
All good ideas to think about. I just looked and yes, it does show the notes being played on the piano keyboard within the Analog Lab V Intro plugin. BUT, only if white notes are played. It doesn’t seem to show any indicator or indication of any kind when a black note is played. Might be a bug? I think they don’t have the shadow effect or not well enough on the black keys like they do the white keys. But I have played things by ear as well in the past so maybe between the two I can figure it out somehow.
Yes that’s true about the keys. I don’t know, if it’s a bug.
I hope you find a way.
