Hold Button

Hi to everyone,
I haven’t AstroLab near to me and I can’t try it, so I have a question about the HOLD button behavior.
Well, leaving aside the fact that it acts as a latch for the Arpeggiator, I’m more interested in understanding how it behaves when I use the HOLD button with chords or notes :
does the previous notes will stop sounding and the new notes will take their place in a legato fashion without any sound interruption? If I play a chord, does the new chord will replace the previous chord seamlessly?
One last question: as I read on the owner’s manual, I have to Press Shift plus Arp to toggle Hold mode. Ok, Will it always be active for note or chord hold function? Or do I have to activate/deactivate it every time I want to hold a chord?

Sorry if I ask it, but I can’t give it a try
Thanks to everyone

Hi,
If the Arpeggiator is On, and Hold is On, playing a new chord replaces the previous chord, with the running arpeggio.

If the Arpeggiator is Off, then the HOLD button works like a Sustain pedal, i.e. when Hold is On, all the notes played are held until Hold is turned Off.
When Hold is ON, playing a new chord doesn’t replace the previous chord, it is stacked on top of it, within the polyphony limit of the preset.
If you set the polyphony limit of the preset, say, to 4 notes, and turn Hold On:

  • playing 2 notes and then another 2 notes, the 4 notes will play on top of each other.
  • But playing a 4-note chord over another 4-note chord will replace the previous chord without interruption.

The Hold mode stays On until you turn it Off (or switch presets).
