Hola.
Lets see how the new forum plays out - too soon to tell, but in one way a welcome ‘upgrade’.
Arturial rules and managing a forum is never easy

Hola @HarlequinX we’re glad to see you here! :zap:

We hope this brand-new interface will help everyone to find the information easily and keep the collective knowledge accessible.

Let’s keep exploring :control_knobs:

Can you make logins more persistent? If there’s a way to configure it to be more relaxed generally or as a user preference that’d be great. I’d prefer to stay logged in on multiple devices for several days at least.

Otherwise the new forum looks great and I like that you’re using the Discourse platform.

I was thinking, is there any chance the forum will implement those tasty 1990s-2000s forum emoticons? I am talking about these dudes:

Is there a list of the allowed attachment file types in this forum?

I noticed in “About the Your sound category” it says “we only allow posting formats from our software and hardware instruments”. I just tried uploading a mbpz file (MatrixBrute patch) and I couldn’t select it. Is it an intentional omission or an oversight?

Can someone else help out flagging the spam? I’ve used up all my attempts (and time) cleaning up the forum this morning. Or can we get better guards up to stop these posts coming in

When I was a volunteer mod on the old forum 50% of my time was deleting spam. Could be as many as 100 posts a day, at its worst. For several years this new forum seems to have kept spam at bay but it’s starting up again.

Arturia have always shied away from opening their forums only to verified purchasers, and I understand why, but I think it’s something they should reconsider. With the advent of social media there’s a thousand-and-one places where non-owners can interact with owners and ask questions. This place, as the official forum, should be for the exclusive use of verified purchasers of Arturia products.

The website ‘knows’ which members are owners and which members aren’t owners, based on the fact myself (and other past purchsers) are automatically presented with any special-offer prices, after we log in. A simple banner on the Community page explaining that, to help control spam, non-owners can browse but not post, would be all that’s required. Any non-owners who feel excluded or offeded by that would be feeling that way entirely of their own choice.

I thought there were separate logins for the forum and main arturia site, with the purchases logged against the 2nd one?

@Jon_Vincent
Lol Yep!

It’s not ALL glamorous models and champagne being an external mod :hushed::wink:
Just had to remove a whole load of bot posts/accounts.

Correct. And Arturia could even keep it that way if they wish, while still limiting ‘write’ access to the forum only to purchasers: all they need to do is move the forum’s ‘register’ page to an area on the main website that only purchasers have access to. Bingo: problem solved.

Hello,
this type of spam is totally heavy.
On FL Studio to reconnect you have to go through a window that checks first, then a code to access your account, why not place a captcha to avoid this kind of intrusion.

Need any help? I get a lot out of the forum so wouldn’t mind adding something back in

Yeah same! If the admins are mostly located in North America and Europe, and you want some APAC time zone coverage, I’m in Australia.

@arturia.official
Maybe give us the option to report replies or users or to contact moderators through a form (not one specific moderator with a PM but rather the moderators as a group).

Someone replied to one of my posts with an obviously generated text (guess you can’t stop them from doing that, except if you count it as spam or something).

However, they quoted my post and altered it by adding a sentence that advertises a digital service in my name!
I don’t like this at all. This is advertising or spam or whatever, I don’t have to care as long as it doesn’t affect me. But they let it seem like I posted it, they posted this in my name.
This wasn’t removed or anything, it got liked by a moderator and that was it. I wasn’t able to flag or report it.
What should I have done? PM the user that posted the reply? Confront them with another reply? PM a moderator or the Arturia account? There is no option to flag/report replies for a user with trust level one (I think) like me.

Btw, the reply mentioned is the only thing this user posted. They seem to have created their account purely to sell/promote a certain service in my name.

In cases like this, users should be able to report replies directly or to contact Arturia or the moderators directly.

Edit/additon:
Forum feedback: Give users the ability to report replies directly, if someone sells something in their name

Wish they’d take on my suggestion I posted in January to move the forum’s Register page to an area on the main site that only logged-in Arturia customers can access. Spam and other such nonsense would disappear overnight. Non-owners could still browse and lurk the forum, just not post. As an official forum it should be open to customers only IMO. There’s loads of alternative forums and SM groups for non-owners to ask questions.

I’d support your suggestion as it seems to work quite well for the Image Line user forum (don’t know if we’re allowed to mention specific brands here)
Maybe they want to keep the forum open to everyone because of their hardware only products?

I’m pretty certain folks who have only bought Arturia hardware are still invited to register it through the website, thus creating an account. That’s how they activate their warranty and how Arturia can keep a track of what they own to send them personalised offers.
