Hello, let’s say I select a preset from the “Explore” panel.
Is there a way to find out if the selected preset belongs to the vanilla Analog Lab Pro preset library, or belongs instead to any instrument or expansion?
Also, if I select a preset that belongs to an instrument library, and I send the project to someone who only has Analog Lab Pro, will the preset load and play correctly?
for the presets that correspond to the Analog Pro bank there is an “A” in pictogram as on the screenshot.
Of course the one corresponding to a bank that your recipient does not have this risks posing a problem, unless he makes the purchase. In addition if you modify this one there is a risk that it does not correspond to the atmosphere of your composition.
If I understand well, you are saying that when you load a preset in Analog Lab, all the preset settings are not stored in the DAW project, rather only the reference to the preset is?
In other cases/plugins, loading a preset stores a snapshot of all the preset settings directly inside the DAW project as plugin state; of course if you don’t have the full version of the plugin (or the Arturia instrument in this case) you won’t be able to edit it, but at least you can use it as it was saved in the project, with no differences.
Those from Arturia or a bank will certainly be identical, but I’ve had some banks offered by participants here where some elements were missing, especially if the presets were partly created with instruments older than the ones I own.
Which DAW are you using for your musical exchanges ?
REAPER. Which, as far as I know, can embed the full state configuration of the plugin in the project. There are options to check, though…
It’s not something I have started yet, but most of all I am curious about how to find out if a preset I’m using can be found and used just by installing Analog Pro (with its Factory + “owned” banks) without any other Arturia plugin installed.
For example in the right panel of Analog Lab you can find informations about the selected preset. You can see from which Bank and instrument it’s from.
It’s unfortunately not possible to see in which Analog Lab version version (Play, Intro, Pro … or in any at all) the selected preset is included as a factory preset. I don’t think i’ve seen any lists either.
You are in generel as a rule of thumb not legally allowed to share sounds others have the copyright to. Any user need to have ownership rights to use them.
You can share presets you create yourself. But only if that preset do not contain a sample that others have the copyright to. In this case the sample need to be owned and installed correctly on the computer where it’s used.
DAW’s store the informations for Arturias instruments like it does for others. If an instrument by any vendor have other options, then it probably will ask you in a popup, when you save a project.
Do you have any issues sharing a DAW project? It’s much easier to reply when there is precise informations about a specific issue.
For example in the right panel of Analog Lab you can find informations about the selected preset. You can see from which Bank and instrument it’s from.
Yes, but when I see “Factory” is it Analog Lab factory or, for example, Piano V Factory?

I am not sharing presets. I am picking a preset in a project, maybe change it, then save the project and send the project to someone else so that he/she can go on working on the track. I haven’t yet started working like this, but I was curious to understand even before venturing
It’s the Factory bank for the instrument it show.
Analog Lab use the same presets as the full applications does. All presets you have in individual instruments also show in Analog Lab.
Only presets saved in Analog Lab format can’t be shared with the full application.
Multi instruments is saved in Analog Lab format. Thise that shows, when you select MULTI as instrument and FACTORY as bank is Analog Lab Factory presets.
Afaik no none MULTI presets are Factory bank presets. But there are such presets in Expansion banks.
As explained in my previous post, then you can’t tell in which Analog lab version a preset is included.
That’s in essence also sharing. You can create an audio track with the sound.
I can’t reply and explain better than in my previous post. Perhaps i can, if you experience a specific issue.
Hello @LBH , I’m also wondering, since we agree that presets, or at least the settings, are the intellectual property of the designers (although they are on virtual instruments or hardware owned by Arturia), what about using them to create your own music and, in some cases, being financially credited for it with sounds created by other musicians.
Do we have to pay royalties, or is the sound being used royalty-free?
For my part, it’s just a fun way to express my passion, but is there a risk (I can always dream, it will never happen) if I’m asked to use one of my compositions for a professional video?.
Normally the culprit is mainly about audio samples.
This is also something that can depend on the vendor. It’s about reading about what’s allowed doing with the sounds when buying sounds. It’s about if the vendor/ creators have copyrights or not for others to use the sounds in a musical project.
In Analog Lab, you can display (and/or sort) the presets in the Explore window by Instrument, Designer or Bank.
This way you can see which preset is from which Soundbank.
Cool thanks; small thing: I tried to filter by bank, there’s no “Analog Lab Factory” item, just “Factory”, and if you filter on it, you get both Analog Lab presets (“Analog Lab Factory” in the Bank Column) and Instruments own Factory (just “Factory” in the Bank column).
It’s something for sure, pity you cannot filter only for Analog Lab Factory.
I can’t recall having seen that bank name before. Do you know when that have been added Sean?
Look like one at least can tell it’s a Analog Lab factory preset now, but not from which version of Analog Lab.
The ones with the “A” logo are Arturia’s favorites.
I don’t know. I currently have ~2,900 presets that are marked “Analog Lab Factory”, including “Legacy Sounds”.
Correct.
But if you set your filters, for example all “Factory”+“Soft Lead” (302 results), and then sort by BANK, the first ones you’ll see will be all Analog Lab Factory preset (64 presets).
2354 Analog Lab Factory presets is the exact number I get excluding legacy presets as of VC11. (B-3V1, CS-80V3, Jup-8V3, Mini V3, Piano V1/V2, Prophet V3, SEM V2, Stage 73V1, Wurli V2)
Current version of AL Pro is 5.12.0.6227
I’ve had every versions of Analog Lab (since Analog Factory & Laboratory). Not sure if that matters.
And yes, I have an AstroLab, but that shouldn’t change Analog Lab Factory presets.
AstroLab has some new presets that are not in Analog Lab Factory library.
