When playing legato in unison or mono mode and using an oscillator like Sample or Karplus-Strong, playing a new note will audibly retrigger the oscillator instead of smoothly gliding to the new note like you would expect. Suggestion: Add an option to not retrigger oscillators when playing legato in mono or unison mode.
Relatedly, there is no envelope continue setting for the cycling envelope, like the “Env Continue” option that the standard envelope has under Retriggering. Suggestion: Add an Env Continue option to the cycling envelope
I only have the Minifreak V. Not the hardware. But i assume it’s the same.
In Minifreak V Glide have a Legato switch. When switched on, then the Envelope do not retrigger when playing legato style in Mono and Unison playmode.
The Cycling ENV have a Legato Kbd Retrig setting for Loop and Env mode.
What I’m referring to is the state of the envelope not resetting to 0 when you release and play a new note. If you set the Amp Envelope to Env Continue in mono or unison mode, set attack and release both quite high, hold a note until max sustain, then release it and play a new note before it has fully decayed, the envelope doesn’t start from the beginning. Rather, it starts from the level it’s already at, so the attack becomes shorter (because it’s already partially open). This mirrors how envelopes work in many analog synths like the minimoog. But there is no combination of settings that makes the cycling envelope behave this way in the minifreak (hardware or software), which is what my second suggestion is about.
Yes, let me make it more clear, my second suggestion has nothing to do with legato play. Perhaps I was wrong to say it was related. I have recorded a video to show what I mean:
In the video I first show how the amp envelope is smooth when in env continue mode, even when not playing legato. Then I show how the cycling envelope resets to 0 instead of continuing from the current level, which makes the filter cutoff jump abruptly. I simply want the cycling envelope to have an option to behave the same way as the amp envelope here, resetting from the current level instead of from 0. (I have tried all the retrigger options and none of them work this way)
