[Feature Request] Studio Mode

I am requesting a global setting that lets you change between “Stage Mode” (what it is now) and “Studio Mode”(or at home mode)

The current information hierarchy is weird and annoying and I think it is done that way to facilitate managing a set list and switching between songs. The problem is, this hierarchy gets in the way when exploring sounds and composing. I can see a value in being able to create set lists, but the way it destroys the usability, it would be nice to have two modes. Its not a clear hierarchy and its weird. Normally I would map out how it is now, then map out the proposed mode but how it is now is so convoluted, I don’t even know if I could do it accurately, so I will just map out proposed mode.

Proposed “Studio Mode”

-----Preset 1

This Panel first hierarchy would dramatically simplify things and help a ton when exploring/composing. ( Panel = Part, i guess I am using Nord’s terminology, but the mental model of two completely separate panels makes a lot of sense)
This would allow me to pick one Panel, set the tempo and scale, and play around with a riff or chord progression that I am digging, then quickly scroll through different sounds to see how it changes the vibe. As it is, I have to go in and re-set the scale, and arp if I am using and arp everytime I want to audition a new sound, it is really really annoying.

This hierarchy would also allow me to record a loop on one panel, play the loop, switch over to the other panel and play using the entire keybed, while the other sound is playing from the other panel. Having the key and tempo married to the panel would allow for interesting polyrhythms if I had one arp going on one Panel and another with a different BPM.

It would also allow me to set one panel to a major key and the other panel to its relative minor Key so that I can noodle around in away that I can’t hit a bad key! It would be great!

Having the Octave/Tranpose tied to the panel would simplify getting the right notes where I want them without having to do a ton of menu diving. If i am in split and want one side to be lower for example, I could just select that Part, adjust the octave and then press split again. (the split would be based on the physical key location, not on the Midi note value)

Right now, I think the way HOLD works is actually a bug, but if I am in split mode I can’t HOLD an arp on one side while playing on the other side, oddly I can turn arp on and off per side, but the side that it is OFF still HOLDs which is just weird if that not what you are intending.

Also right now, adding a part to a 1 part preset is not as straightforward as I would expect, I always feel a little nervous when I try it, like I am going to break something. And once I finally get it where I want it, I usually do actually break it, one scroll click in the wrong mode and bam, the two selected parts are gone, replaced by the next preset. This is also really annoying. This would be solved by a Panel First hierarchy.

I think that covers it. I can’t wait. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi @ljeffay

and thanks for the suggestions.

I’ve marked this up properly as a feature request for you so our team will be aware of it.

HTH!
