[Feature request] Serum to Pigments converter :)

Hey there!
So, are you also fed up with Serum’s interface after experiencing the wonders of Pigments?
I’ve got quite a few sets using Serum that I’d love to convert into Pigments.
Would it be possible to have some kind of Serum to Pigments conversion, even if it’s a bit basic, just to make preset conversion a tad easier? Thanks a bunch!

By all means suggest it as a feature request but from what I know of synth architecture and coding, I think it would be nearly impossible to achieve. Arturia don’t even make a converter for their own synths eg CS80 V3 to V4. I think you will have to do some deep examination of each patch to ascertain its makeup.

Hi @shld

As @Funtmaster correctly states, they’re just so different, AND from totally different manufacturers that this is pretty much never going to happen unfortunately.
Possibly if an enthusiast decides they want to create one themselves, which does happen from time to time.
Just think of it this way, you have two superb synths there, you can stack them together if you wish, both are massively flexible, so what’s not to like? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Hi!
Yes they are different, but Pigment can do all that Serum does.

  • A basic import with wavetables, enveloppes and filters parameters would be enough as a starting point to translate a library.
  • An enthusiast might eventually get started, but in this case, Arturia would surely need to document the format of its presets or provide an API. This would not be unthinkable because Arturia seems more open than other brands?

Hi all.

In addition i also think there can be legal issues involved.

I personally do not see such a converter will happen.

Even if possible and even if legal, then the synths are different from each other and they also do not sound the same.

Luckily many designers create presets for Pigments. There are many in Arturias Sound Store and also third party presets out there. Even sound designers for Serum can design presets for Pigments.

We can also design our own presets for that matter. We can learn about the synth and then also be better to alter other presets.

Yeah there’s literally no way Arturia could do this without infringing Xfer Records’ intelectual property, and that’s assuming it would even be possible.
