Hello everyone,
I started dreaming about a Minifreak on steroids (let’s call it MegaFreak) but in a desktop module format, because many of us have our preferences when it comes to keys and many of us live in small spaces.
We could imagine that this Megafreak would have the following features in addition to the current Minifreak:
Desktop module format.
12-voice polyphony.
An ADSR envelope dedicated to the filter.
The possibility of having the wavetable macro oscillator on oscillator 2 as well.
A third oscillator.
Bi-timbrality (or multi-timbrality).
Two pairs of stereo outputs.
And more…
What about you? If you’re interested, vote for the topic!!
I’ve been hoping that there will be a “big” version (equivalent to the Polybrute or Matrixbrute) of the MicroFreak because it’s such an amazing synth - MegaFreak or SuperFreak would be great names too! Agree with the features you’ve got there, personally I’d actually really love it with a capacitor keyboard as I think it works really well with the MicroFreak and a bigger one would be awesome - hopefully module and keyboard versions would be available.
The splice and dice features for the Seq are great, one really useful feature would be to be able to copy the (spliced/ diced) pattern back to Seq A or B!
An absolute must have to me is no more rubberized knobs, they are horrible when they age!! Please let’s stick to ones that don’t decay!
Would be good for Arturia to know just how good the MicroFreak workflow is (things like being able to scroll through the models and use the same settings of the patch is amazing if you’ve already spent time setting up LFOs/ Seq/ modulations) and to build on it and extend it rather than redo it…
You’ll be pleased to hear that these were abandoned some time ago and, although they look like they’re rubberised in pictures, they’re actually hard plastic on The MF.
And welcome to The Sound Explorers Forum too by the way!
Thanks - and that is great news! The rubberized plastic ruined the MiniBrute for me (had to sell mine after a few years), I do however already have a spare set of knobs for my MicroFreak as nothing would make me sell that one, it’s incredible!
No worries, it actually affected A LOT of companies including Maserati Sports Cars, so you’re in good company… kind of…
I remember the build up to this ‘amazing, wonderful, new soft touch plastic, that’s going to transform lives’ back in the early 2000s… that went well!
Yeah there were a LOT of music gear affected by this in fairness! Good news that we’re all moving away from it…
I’m new here so not totally sure of the process - my point about the ability to copy output of the splice/ diced patterns into one of the Seq is something I’d be really keen for (it’s so inspiring and I’ve found some real gems that way), how do I go about raising it as an “enhancement request” or similar for consideration on the next release?
You’re better off starting a separate feature request post for each idea you have and mark it up as such, it’ll be more likely to be seen by Arturia Staff then.
USB class compliant audio interface, which the minifreak is not currently. I know this is in contradiction with the analog filtering section but since the rest is digital, why not?
