[Feature Request] Manual/ Alphabetical Sort Options for Playlists and Songs

          It would be extremely useful for me to have an option to switch quickly between alphabetical/ manual sorting of songs in playlists on a per playlist basis. I playing with a few different groups that play some of the same songs in different orders and sometimes, when a song gets called out of order, i't hard to scroll to it while playing looking for the next patch. It be great if I could just switch sort by alphabetical order and then it would be easy to get to the songs I need. This past weekend, I manually reordered my master playlist alphabetically and that really helped, but for some gigs, the transitions are very quick and there's no time to manually search for a song before the next one comes up, so they need to be in order. My setlists in the Forescore app have this feature and it makes life so easy. Thanks!

HI @darrelldiaz and thanks for your suggestion, i’ve marked it up as a feature request now, so The Arturia Devs will be more likely to see it.

I’m not an AstroLab owner myself, so your request is a little cryptic, could you maybe be a little more specific?

To reiterate:

I’d like to be able to have 2 sorting options on the Astrolabe itself inside of playlists.

  1. Manual: I can reorder the songs in setlist order
  2. Title: They are listed in alphabetical order

A simple toggle at the bottom of the setlist would be perfect. It could be right under the create new song button and look like this:

I find myself in situations where the band will send out setlists in advance and I build the setlist on the Astrolab only to find out that the order changes at the gig on the fly and I’m now scrambling to locate the right song in the playlist. I’ve been adding all of the songs to a master playlist so everything in our repertoire is there. Being able to see them in alphabetical order would make it much faster to find a specific song instead of trying to scroll through the playlist looking for a song.

Hi Darrell,
I understand your request. Not sure if/when this could be implemented, but just in case, I have a question:
As you know, the Manual order of the Songs in the Playlist is also setting the Bank Select LSB (Song index in Playlist) for receiving Program Change messages.
I’m guessing the Manual order should be kept for the Bank Select LSB messages, even when displaying in Alphabetical order, right?

Sorry to be so late to reply to your message. I’m using a app that sends a MIDI program change message as part of the song tab so when a new Song is selected for play on the app, the Astrolab automatically switches to the corresponding preset. There are several of these apps to choose from and they work across all major platforms.

I’m using Songbook+ on an iPad. It’s also runs on Android and Windows.

Trying to keep the song presets in the correct order for a working band to play is just too much manual effort. Let the app handle all that. Plus you can get away from using paper for all your song notes, chords, sheet music.
