[Feature Request] Make controls support mouse scroll gestures for easier trackpad editing

I could swear that Pigments’ controls used to react to mouse scroll events, so that you don’t have to drag to change their values. I find that this makes a huge difference to the ease of use when using a trackpad - you can use 1 finger to locate the control (which already detects mouseover!), then add a 2nd finger to perform a scroll to change the parameter value without having to click and hold while manipulating it.

Arturia please restore this functionality, which is becoming standard in most software now!

[EDIT: I now realise it never had this functionality, but continue to call for its addition]

HI @aramando and welcome to The Sound Explorers Forum!

I’m fairly sure, although i’m old now and my memory isn’t quite what it used to be, admittedly… But i’m fairly sure Pigments has never actually had this functionality, it does crop up in feature requests from time to time though.

I’m happy to stand corrected if i’m ‘misremembering’ though.

HTH!

Another old codger here. I have used Pigments since its release and it never had that functionality as far as I am aware.

It could be useful - especially using an Apple Magic Mouse as I do with scrolling enabled.

Thanks guys, yeah you’re both right (I downloaded and installed the final revisions of versions 4 and 5 to check and it does seem it never did this, I must have been thinking of other soft synths).

I have updated the title accordingly, but I do still think this would be a valuable feature; it is just easier to do a lot of parameter tweaking by lightly touching with a 2nd finger to perform a scroll gesture than having to press down and drag. And it’s also nice to have the option of using the scroll wheel when using a mouse instead of a standard drag, but the main benefit is definitely when using a trackpad.

Hey, there’s absolutely NOTHING wrong with making suggestions at all!
It’s part and parcel of what this forum was set up for.

PLEASE DO keep any suggestions coming! :+1::sunglasses::+1:

Yeah in some plugins, you just to position mouse over a control (hover) and do a scroll move on trackpad (without clicking). Very fast and lower the zillion number of clicks we do

On my Mac I use the free open source software Karabiner-Elements.
With it, I remapped the Caps-Lock key to Left Mouse Button.
Now i simply hold the caps-lock key when i want to change a control.
No more dragging needed. More precise control and less straining.
Changing controls without the need to press the trackpad is so much better.
