Very recently purchased a Microfreak, and I love it, but I wasn’t fully informed about the lack of basic arp modes on the device. Why only UP?! I am suprised that there is no down, up/down, poly/chord mode available, these are kind of long-established “arp staples” that one would expect to see on any modern arpeggiator, and certainly in-line with Arturia’s rich arpeggiation “pedigree”.
Order mode can be used to establish a functional “down” pattern, but this is not the same thing, and does not provide an up+down or poly equivalent. I ended up also purchasing a Minifreak because I like the Microfreak so much overall, and the Mini has arp modes galore, and I also know Arturia has oodles of arps on the Keystep and Keystep pro, so it isn’t like Arturia have no clue about arp modes.
So… Arturia, please add these other basic arp modes to the Microfreak. Maybe the “inclusive” and “exclusive” up/down modifier modes from the keystep could be added to both 'Freaks as well? I could offer more suggestions about how to access these modes (shift and press the Up mode button to cycle the “basic” arps, for example, but maybe that combo is already “spoken for”…), but I’ll assume you can sort out the best engagement methods.
I feel like this would be relatively “low effort” improvement to include in a new firmware update since this functionality was already present on the Minifreak at launch and seems absolutely doable with the given Microfreak interface and architecture. I don’t think this addition would “cannibalize” sales of the Mini toward the Micro, as the Mini has the benefit of direct-access buttons to these modes of course.
I did necro-reply on a thread from 2023 with a similar request, but I don’t know if Arturia looks at old topics so decided to make a new topic with similar request.
