Thanks, @matjones !
Chiming in to strongly support the idea of making this possible. Would this feature request apply to the Micro Freak and other Arturia instruments as well as the Mini Freak? (I’m fairly sure I’m about to buy the AstroLab…)
I found this thread because I was looking for the same option to remove presets from my Micro Freak Stellar–within the options in the MIDI Control Center, which I believe I correctly assume to be the common software solution for all Arturia devices(?).
One of the things I love about the well-thought-out factory presets is that they show firsthand what’s possible to do with this lovely little device (Micro Freak) (and it’s astounding what you can do with it!!). My plan is to keep a number of the presets available on the instrument to use as templates to tweak further.
But, my experience: My MFS is a recent purchase; once I saw that the firmware was ~1 version behind, I upgraded it as soon as I could and loaded all of the newer presets onto my instrument so I could check them out. And now I have to scroll through 448 pre-made presets to get to my own. And I can’t get rid of those I won’t use.
Honest disclaimer: Although I’ve played piano/keys since I was six years old, the guitar is my main instrument, and I’m relatively new to synth technology.
But I’ve been working with guitar-amp emulators since the late 90s. Many are absolutely terrible, mais par example, my main device in that area is the Tech 21 PSA 2.0 (a magnificent, gorgeous, mind-bending little tool, the ingenuity of which is at a minimum comparable to Arturia’s instruments and software), where there are a lot of factory presets, but the user can move them around and overwrite them as needed. This can be done on the device itself.
I can’t complain too much vis-a-vis my Arturia instrument and the MCC, as there are almost no words to describe what’s possible here (and I never expected this much flexibility for such an appealing price). Nonetheless, the idea of scrolling through so many presets to get to something I’m actually going to use is magnificently unappealing.
And this is giving me pre-purchase nerves about the AstroLab’s (1300+?) presets.
The MCC seems to have some incredible capabilities; the best-world scenario would be to be able to keep presets I don’t actively use stored on my computer in case I want to play with them later, while storing only what I want to actively use on the instrument itself.
Thanks so much for your consideration.
