[Feature Request] Controling the two oscillators VCA's separately

Hello, as title says I’d love to suggest a feature request for the Minifreak, one that I’m greatly missing in mine - the ability to control the two oscillator’s VCA’s separately, in order to create rhythms utilizing two different sound sources.

The most simple example would be to use the ADSR Env to control Osc 1 VCA, while using the cycling Env to control Osc 2 VCA. That would also require a way to disable the auto routing of the ADSR Env to VCA 2. (Or vice versa).

The second and more interesting scenario, would be using Osc 1 audio in algorithm, with an “open envelope” (just an open VCA) in order to let all sounds come in (without engaging any keyboard key), and at the same time sending midi notes or using the keyboard to trigger Osc 2. That way one can use Minifreak as both a sound source of it’s own, and also an effect unit for other instruments at the same time! Yet again, that would require a way to set VCA 1 as fully open without needing to relay on the ADSR Env.

Thanks so much!

Hi @itsnirfromafar. Welcome to the community.

Minifreak only have one output VCA. It does’nt have two completely free synth lines.

As it is you can already use HOLD to keep the VCA open after an initial keypress.

But Arturia can take your input into consideration for their products. Thanks for your thoughts. One never knows.

If I understand you correctly, you could try the following:

Set the main AMP envelope to max sustain and enable HOLD. This will effective leave the envelope open.

Use the independent SHAPER functions for each LFO with LFO1 assigned to the volume of OSC1 and LFO2 assigned to the volume of OSC2. The shapers could also be assigned to the Filter Cutoff to give it some kind of envelope too.

This should allow for pretty complex rhythmic effects and you still have the Cyclic Envelope to use for added modulation.

I will try it as soon as I get a chance…
