As some may know, I am a longtime user of Pigments and often sing its praises here. But am also a user of Reason, using synths such as Parsec. What makes Parsec stand out for me as a patch designers is the use of oscillator modifiers (see screenshots).
I would love to see an implementation of this in Pigments in some form or other. I see it as an alternative to the existent filters whereby a dropdown is selected in either or both filters to select these options. So, you could use this new functionality in one filter slot and the existent filters in the other.
Pigments has come a long way with the inclusion of new Engines but I think its time to look at how those waveforms are modified beyond using traditional filters.
Yeah I would love to see something like that too. I think Massive X and Alchemy might have something like that as well, unless I’m mistaken.
Extending on that you could add a few “summing” options for the oscillators. I believe you see this kind of thing on modular synths, but Unfiltered Audio Lion also has a version as well. This simple option could open uncreative opportunities.
I don’t know Parsec. But is’nt that what you can do with the controls you have in Pigments Harmonic Engine? It’s just not fixed/ made to presets in Pigments.
Some pre-settings could be added in Pigments i suppose.
BTW Arturia - if you read this: There are some Partial pop - click in Pigments.
Try this for test:
Create a New Preset
Select Harmonic as Engine 1.
In the Shape section:
Set Tilt to -1. (Fully counter clock wise.)
Enable the Hi- and Low Pass filters.
Set Depth to 100%. (Middle position.)
In the Window module of the Partial Modulation section
Set Gain to 60 db. (Fully Clockwise)
Change the Position while playing a note
Now only one partial should be heard at a time. Hear the pop- click while/ when Partials changes.
EDIT: Perhaps i should add that the Smooth reduce much but not 100%. And its not the same effect using smooth. EDIT END
No. The Harmonic Engine in Pigments is a sound source. The Waveform Modifiers in Parsec modify the waveform coming from the Generator (the Engine in Pigments terms). So, they can act as filters by the inclusion of options such as LPF, HPF, Bandpass and Comb but offer a whole lot more options in terms of sound sculpting.
Re your bug: I would suggest logging it separately here or directly with Arturia so its get picked up.
