I have a question about the expression pedal settings. I thought that if I selected “Wheel” as an option, the pedal would behave like the modulation wheel; for example, controlling vibrato. But nothing seems to happen when I select it.
The pedal works as expected in the “Matrix” setting, so it’s not defective.
regarding the “Wheel” setting: The expression pedal configuration menu in the settings offers modes for each pedal, but the wheel option itself is labeled “Modwheel”. Is this the setting you mentioned in your post?
Separately, the PolyBrute’s panel features a “wheel” option. Is this set to “Vibrato”?
When an Expression pedal is set to “Modwheel”, that means it is assigned to the “Wheel” row of the matrix. It does not perform the function of the actual Modwheel.
Thus you can have the pedal(s) as a separate source in the matrix while the modwheel is controlling Cutoff, Vibrato or LFO1 Amp instead of being assigned as a matrix source.
If you want to control vibrato specifically with a pedal, you can do one of:
to use the dedicated Vibrato function, set a matrix column to be “Vibrato depth” (hold one of the button 1-8 and turn the Amount knob) and control its amplitude with the Wheel row (or whatever row you assigned the expression pedal to)
use LFO1 to control the pitch in the matrix, and then set a matrix column to “LFO1 Amp” and control that with the row you have the pedal assigned to
set up your own vibrato routing in the matrix and control it with the row you have the pedal assigned to
