Erattic behavior of drawbars and in consistent sound playback

I’m recording ON MAC STUDIO M1 ULTRA 128 GB, OS Monterey 12.7.5 in LOGIC 10.7.9
and I’m experiencing inconsistent sound timbre during playback. I’ve gone into piano roll and erased automation and still organ sounds different each time it plays in CYCLE mode.

You’re probably triggering notes on that lower black key octave. Those are not meant to be played as notes; they change the organ’s drawbar configuration and will make the sound completely different.

Thank you and that was a great suggestion to check. I didn’t see of the preset keys being triggered and I even deleted the midi track completely and re-recorded the part and i still see movement of the draw bars that’s not reflected in my automation lanes. I went on track and enabled all the upper drawbars automation lanes and I don’t see automation movement written where the drawbars are actually moving. So I’m still grappling with this issue. Any other suggestion would be greatly appreciated. I’m also on midi channel 1 exclusively for now.

You’re absolutely sure your re-recorded MIDI notes are not activating any of those black keys (C0 to B0)? Or that the VST is not receiving MIDI notes from somewhere unexpected? That’s what this sounds like, moreso than any possible automation lane issues.

In the few Arturia presets I checked, Bb0 and B0 seem to correspond to the presets original drawbar settings, so you can try triggering B0 to reset the drawbars and then watch to see where they change again when you playback your recorded clip.

I think so. I did go in and note that C0 to BO had no midi msg. I created new tracks and simply re-recorded the parts. I also found out that unless I went intro the instrument automation drop down sub-menu and clicked on the drawbar setting I couldn’t see some of the automation even if I tried to scroll through using CMD Y in Logic which was surprising. Oh well I think I’ve got things sorted out and will make sure not to use C0 to B0 for anything other than to change drawbar settings. Thank you so much for your efforts. The instrument is amazing and I’m sure. this was simply operator error on my part.
