Hi,
I’ve noticed that in some sounds in Analog Lab Pro there is no way to disable reverb/delay. Some of the presets have a reverb knob but even if set to 0 it’s still there.
Is there some tab I’m missing?
Thanks

Hi pkolano,
By the design of some presets, unfortunately, it may not be possible to remove the reverb/delay entirely unless you own a license for the instrument in question and can dive in and tweak the parameters more in detail.
… which make Analog Lab Pro pretty useless for me. It’s ok effects embedded, but most of the time it’s just too much.
Thanks for your feedback here, we take it into account for updates!
Another vote here from an Analog Lab Pro user for adding a simple ‘Patch FX On/Off’ switch.
We are not asking for access to the underlying instruments used, just asking you to help enable us to make 60% of presets actually usable in our productions. Otherwise what is the point of Analog Lab Pro, to just play presets in isolation only?
Yeah this drove me absolutely crazy since many designers overdo their effects quite a bit!! It what lead me to eventually buying the V Collection. This truly was maddening.
What’s the point of having a reverb or delay control if they do very little to nothing to a sound. I consider this a poor practice and a bad design choice on their behalf.
I’m not an Arturia employee. This is my personal inputs and thoughts.
Analog Lab use presets from all Arturias software synths. Without those full instruments there would be none presets. Analog Lab is not a instrument by it self as it uses other instruments to produce sounds.
Effects are part of the sound design today no matter we like it or not. Editing effects is in that view under the hood, when they have a vital impact on the sound.
Some effects may come after the reverb in a effect chain. A preset can use multiple reverbs.
Also keep in mind, that some instruments have effect processing in multiple chains or routes. Analog Lab can for example not add effects to individual Pigments engines like you can in Pigments.
I can support an all effects on/ off where it’s possible. But some sounds will sound very different without for example distortion or Multiband Compression if the sound uses that. And also without Reverb.
Sound designers can choose to control effects with the Macros. Some presets is controlling effects this way. More Macros could help to have more presets to use Macros to control effects.
Owners of full instruments expand Analog Lab functionality.
People owning the full instruments for example do have the choice to not add effects to the presets in the individual instruments already.
Different instruments work in different ways.
It might not be as simple as it sounds to have a simple Reverb on/ off.
That said, then i do understand the wish, and i actually would like to be able to remove all original effects fast. A question will still be, how much should you own to be able to do it.
There shall probably be reasons to buy full instruments, if Analog Lab shall not be more expensive in it self. And the more Analog lab can do in it self without owning full instruments, the more it will probably cost.
Also Arturia shall have reasons to create instruments.
Just some thoughts to think about. There are many things to take into consideration to add such feature or not.
We will see what Arturia will do.
This thoughts is based on the current existing products and how they currently work.
May i ask what the difference between owning the full instruments or just owning Analog Lab PRO and PLAYER should be? Also what difference in price?
What do you think Analog Lab is? What do you think Analog Lab should be, if it is’nt that already?
On the somewhat technical side - What is under the hood in a synth and what is’nt - and why? For me anything that alter the sound is under the hood. That’s sound engines, filters, modulators, effects and whatever. It’s all part of the sound and the shape and movement of the sound.
I think all this is worth to discuss. Ideas are welcome.
If owning the full instruments or if everything was free, then everyone can turn effects off or edit them already. So the question is not about this is not possible.
Owning Analog Lab Pro should give the user a simple ‘Patch FX On/Off’ switch.
The argument that doing so can drastically alter the sound of a preset is hardly an argument against that functionality because so can the current macro controls that allow us to shape filter, ADR controls etc.
I don’t think anyone is asking for full parameter access. Just an on/off switch for the fx used in the pertaining instrument so that we may actually fit any Analog Lab Pro patch into ours productions. Especially for time based effects like reverb and delay; it sounds cool listening to a preset in isolation but that is not a real world production scenario were the chosen time based fx create many more problems than they solve.
“give the user a simple ‘Patch FX On/Off’ switch”
and then give the user more and more functions in Analog Lab Pro, until there’s no reason to buy the V-Collection? You can see where this goes; you’re asking Arturia to cut their own throats.
The preset might not match your artistic intention, but right now, you can use the Analog Lab Pro software instruments in your production.
What you really want is to edit the presets, in which case buy the full product.
That’s not what I want nor what I am asking for. You only come across patronizing and dismissive, telling people what you think they really want instead of hearing them.
“Don’t ever give in to user requests because they’ll only keep asking for more”
Is that your proposition?
Lol. Triggered much?!
Nobody’s saying don’t ask for stuff, but don’t be surprised if companies don’t give away next-tier functionality for nothing.
And you are, in fact, asking to edit the preset: you’re asking to remove the effects that the preset designer built into it.
So don’t call me condescending when I’m just pointing out the plain truth.
Yes you already have lots of control in Analog Lab without owning the full instruments.
Would it help you here and now, if Arturia made some soundpacks that only contain presets that does’nt use reverb and delay?
Just to chip in also,
I also do not work for Arturia, so my own personal thoughts here…
Problem with this is, one person wants to turn effects ‘like’ reverb… say Arturia decide to allow reverbs to be turned off, then someone else comes along and says ‘well you turned the reverbs off for them, so why can’t i have delay or modulation effects turned off too’? and, that WILL happen… ‘feature creep’ as it’s known.
So where do they draw the line?
I’ll tell you what. I would rather give up any controls relating to adsr or filter and instead have an ‘FX Bypass’ button. Because what good are those other controls to me when I won’t be using the preset anyway (because it’s drowning in reverb and delay).
And so it goes, many many more presets down the drain because I have to apparently fit my whole production around this preset instead of fitting it in with the production by having the dry sound.
I have no say in this either way just voicing my preferences as others have on this matter. I don’t get the fear of some ‘slippery slope’ some are trying to pass as a counter argument for listening to customers preferences.
I have Arturia down as a pretty reasonable company that makes good products but another thing that has been disregarded for years is user requests for mouse-wheel control over parameters. Comes across a bit tone deaf. May not be the motivation for that decision but comes across that way because it simply gets ignored.
At least in this point in time - knowing the instruments, then i think the most realistic thing to expect iwill be that Effect control is something the designers have to apply to the presets, and that there perhaps will be more Macros.
But as said then i’m not from Arturia.
I most understand, that soundpacks with presets not using effects like Reverb and Delay will not help you.
It sound like you rant now. Mouse control is not on topic. Please stay on topic.
I’ve voiced my gripes with what is otherwise a great piece of software here and with Arturia support (over the years). That’s about all.
I realize this is an invite-only forum/community and not a public one so it represents but a small sample size of actual users so views like mine are not perhaps often represented regarding the software? (or perhaps the majority here are simply invested in the V-Collection)
I don’t think that’s true at all.
All are welcome.
Your opinion is just as good as any.
I have even said i understand your wish. And Arturia have said they have logged the feature request.
I have asked some questions.
I understand you will rather have a FX On/ Off control than being able to control what you can control now.
I understand soundpacks with presets that don’t use effects does’nt help you.
And apparantly having sounddesigners use Macros to control effects is’nt good enough for you either.
That’s the answers you have been given. Arturia can take that into consideration.
I accept your opinions.
Noone have said, you are not welcome. You are. Thanks for your inputs.
