Did I get sold a demo unit?

Hi guys. I just bought a minifreak and I noticed it has a few cosmetic defects, which made me wonder if I got sold a demo or used unit. I attached some photos.

They are pretty minor defects though and I’m wondering if they are just from manufacturing? The panels aren’t extensively scratched or anything but the seems to be 3 spots along the panel edges where there are very minor chips in the plastic. Also the preset change knob seems to have some yellow splotchy discoloration around it towards the base that almost looks like dirt from use (and doesn’t come off when trying to clean it). One of the keys has a fairly noticable scratch on it and the rest have minor scratches and you can see slight scratchy swirls where light reflects. The touch strips also has some kind of gunky looking around the bottom and top edges (knob grease?) and all the keys were a bit sticky until I wiped them a couple of times.

Again the synth looks mostly new except for these minor things.

The thing that makes me actually suspect it’s a demo unit was that the presets stop at 253 (I know there are supposed to be 256) , the rest are init patches until somewhere around preset slot 272 where there are two more presets. Everything in-between are labeller “init” patches except some of them actually have a non-init preset in them.

So have I ended up with a demo unit? Or are these kind of minor cosmetic flaws normal out of the box? Is there some way I can check via the serial number?

HI @DiscoBiscuits99 and welcome to The Sound Explorers Forum!

Have you contacted the seller to ask them directly yet? I think that should be your first port of call.
I have a hardware MF myself and i don’t remember any scratches on keys, dents on the casing or off coloured knobs like that.
I’d also check the packaging too, to see if it’s been opened previously if you’re still able to.

HTH!

A quick update, i did check mine last night as i remembered your post, and i couldn’t find anything like the issues you’re reporting on my own MF.
I’ve had it since it was released, i do keep it in a case when not in use, though.
