Worthy of a science-fiction film, superb atmosphere to project oneself into the future with I think a nod to John Carpenter.
Thank you @francoise for sharing.

Yep an interesting track, definitely hints of Capenter in this one. I could definitely hear this one in a Sci-Horror film, rather than the usual metal accompaniment.
It does remind me of the some of the sound track to ā€˜Pi’ in parts too.

Thank you, both of you, Pascal and Mat, for your kind words.
I don’t know much about Carpenter but Mat’s link indeed shows the affinity.

I hesitated between Darkwave and Burial and probably missed both
The title Darkware is a reference to cult movie Hardware of 1990 with music from PIL and Ministry.

Ļ€ (Pi) is Darren Aronofsky’s first movie. His movies are mostly quite dark (Requiem for a dream, Dark Swan, O Mother).
I don’t know much about Carpenter’s music (I like the Arturia Carpenter’s Tribute) or (horror) movies but you’re right: it’s a similar vein. The title is a reference to dystopian 1990 Hardware movie.
Thank for the kind words.

That’s a shame you’re not familiar with his music, BUT that possibly means you’ve not seen many of his films?
If you like that kind of genre then you’re in for a real treat catching up with them.
His remake of ā€˜The thing’ (from outer space) is probably his best known and arguably best film… the original is hilariously bad but still worth a watch for the comedy value.
Escape from New York and Escape from LA are both pretty amusing, but ā€˜They Live’ is possibly my own favourite for various reasons.
If you’ve not seen them you really should check them out.

I’m not an horror movie viewer. As a child, I waited anxiously for a TV scifi serial and spent the hour hiding behind the couch. So I’ve never seen a Carpenter movie.

I’ll take a look at ā€œThe thing form outer spaceā€. It sounds like a Lovecraft title. And I’ll take a look at the Escapes and ā€œThey liveā€. I understand how it should be approached.

But I don’t like slasher movies. My father was a surgeon and I didn’t I understand how he could cut into flesh or stitch someone. I suppose I take the slasher genre seriously and I have a fluctuating blood pressure. :heartpulse:

Anyway, thank you for pointing out the genre I ended up in. I will try again for Burial (William Bevan, DNB, Dubstep) and independently for Darkwave (VNV Nation, She past away). I have a friend who enjoys this genre.

@francoise
I’m afraid ā€˜the thing from outer space’ isn’t as deep as Lovecraft, it’s a REALLY bad ā€˜B Movie’, but still worth watching as it’s so bad it’s hilarious
He’s done one or two vampire flicks too, they’re the closest thing to the slasher genre that he’s done.
The thing has some, even by today’s standards, great ā€˜monster’ special affects that are really ā€˜jump scares’ more than anything… most of those films are ā€˜a bit of a romp’, but also usually carry some kind of social commentary too.

I understand it should not not taken literally. There is such a thing as ā€œbad artā€ in general. Here we used the term ā€œpsychotroniqueā€. I remember old Japanese Ultraman movies of the 60’s.
A romp, a new word for me. Some kind of festivity.

Hey now, I think you’re forgetting one major contribution of his to the slasher genre… maybe THE most famous/genre-defining slasher movie of all-time… Halloween!

Lol, ah yeah, you got me there!
I think it’s so different to his other work that it’s easy to forget… i think ā€˜Leather Face’ might disagree with it being THE most famous though. :link::carpentry_saw: :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Hello,
apart from the cinematographic side I have always been interested in the musical composition that accompanies all kinds of films and series whether Science-Fiction, Horror, fantasy since the period in France of the Festival D’Avoriaz.

Many films of this genre but always fascinated by soundtracks.

For the past five years, it has been composers who have motivated me in my musical approach and I have found at Arturia the tools to play in the same color of those years when latex was king in the digital effects genre today.

I have files on composers of the past and today that feed my imagination to continue my musical quest.

Musical friendship.

Maurice Jarre has composed music for so many movies. Vangelis is an icon.

I never visited Avoriaz. We stayed near by on the Swiss side in Les Crozets.
Some well known movies won the first prize: Duel, Soylent Green, Phantom of the Paradise, Carrie, Dead Ringers, Mad Max, Terminator and from the very music oriented Lynch with Blue Velvet and Elephant Man.
Lynch is a emotion painter (sadness, ecstatic joy, angst, fear, etc.). Music is a natural emotion fabric creator.
