Copying installers to 2nd computer to install and ASC starts downloading again

The Software Center could be better if it would actually respond when I click to reinstlall all, or would let me just install all.

I realize my computer is a mess, but this software center is nearly impossible to use.

I started by downloading after purchasing, ok ran out of data on a phone during this, and had to go to a 2nd phone hotspot. Lot of download 33GB for V Collection X and Arturia FX collection.

Now I copy the entire installers folder to my other computer on the network and that’s 33GB. The 2nd computer should install if I set my folder in preferences right? But it starts to download the Brass instruments again, or at least it appeared to while it was installing ARP and ACID, the Augmented Brass said download 3%. So that looks unacceptable to me and I click to stop, the Augmented Brass, and it doesn’t respond, so I click to stop all, and finally close the program by killing it with task manager.

Several hours, several hundred attempts later, Several uninstall and reinstall, attempt to activate offline and things like this, all with no success, I have deleted folders from Arturia Program Data, I have deleted files and things from all places. Attempting to get it to say I can Install again. It never says that, and it won’t let me “Reinstall All”.

The thing needs work as I see it. I had downloaded the Augmented Brass and other plugins just about 12 hours before attempting the first install, after activation using the online. After that I tried all these other things but it never will work anymore at all.

I just can’t get a response from the Arturia Software Center and I am about ready to just throw in the towel here the thing is impossible to use.

I uninstalled, the restart the computer and reinstalled the ASC, I did everything else I mention. I ran as admin, I cleared anything from today, which included about 10 empty folders in the chosen location for Program Data/Arturia. I have twice done an offline activation today, getting the emails. I have attempted for 3 hours to do it, but it can’t be changed from saying “reinstall all” and there is no way to get any response from ‘reinstall all’.

The only thing I haven’t tried is to do it online all again, which I don’t want to do, because the ASC will not respond until I turn off my firewall completely and I don’t want my computer to recieve any messages from all the other things, such as windows update, which it will start to communicate with if the firewall is turned off.

Please make this more user friendly for those who don’t wish to break their computers which are carefully preserved in a working state.

I took a few pictures of this situation after just now I went online to re sync the licenses, which worked, but the files that I had placed in the folder were again overwritten for the augmented brass. The new files must have taken a couple of GB from my limited data on my hotspot from my phone.

Why doesn’t the program just reinstall the files that I made the first download last night?

Note in the network monitor the large amount of download it took up for several minutes, at over 1 MB per second!

Just want to install the files I already downloaded. The files for the Acid, ARP 2600 and Analog Lab did NOT re download. Only the Aug Brass.

I tried some other of the classic synths, using the ASC, the Buchla and one other, and you can see they were also starting to download before I paused the progress. Anything after the Augmented Brass that downloaded, were going to download again in their entirety.

There is also a picture from the first computer, showing the version numbers for BRASS were the same after download as the download from last night.

This is an unacceptable situation. I won’t download these files again.

And the thing is, even those files which appear to be different sizes, well doesn’t make a difference so far, unless it’s something unseen, because the Brass on the first computer with the files that were smaller, still appears to be working. I was just checking out a few of the presets with my MPK Mini I brought from the other side of the house, and it seems to have full function.

I looked into the differences seen in those earlier pictures in the area of the files, where the Brass had different sizes. The first computer does have all the same files that the 2nd computer got.

I am thinking to delete these confirmation files maybe to try installing again.

ok looks like there may be just a simple explanation if it’s just the other computer downloading vc8 redist files or something?

Did a backwards copy because the file counts were not the same. Looks like the 2 Augmented programs that started to download were these vc8 files. I am running a windows from March 23 so…

I am going to try and do it again but it better not download 33 GB. I don’t know why the file times had to get changed. I need an exact measure of how much download is going to be used for this. Not that I couldn’t do it but I don’t want to have no internet for the rest of the month.

I just got them to install, only 10 hours later after the first try this morning.

Deleting those 1 kb confirm files seems to have done the trick. The downloads all went straight across in 1 s and now all programs are doing the silent install. This is great.

There should be some sort of pop up with instructions for those of us who are using the original files to discard the confirm files first. Could have saved my Saturday for other more important things like playing Monopoly online and maybe going to the store to buy that Arturia Mini minilab I was going to go out and get today after watching the videos on it here last night while these all downloaded!

Oh well.

Hi @nModular ,

I’m sorry you have this trouble.

I think it’s mainly the way you try to do things that create problems.

Normal procedure is to download and install Arturia Software Center (ASC).
Then download, install and activate the products within ASC.

You can download the standalone installers and use them by them self to install the products one by one.
But you will still need to activate using ASC. Also if it’s for offline activation as far as i recall.

The standalone installers is not used by ASC.

The standalone installers can be copied to another computer and be used to install the products there too one by one.

Be patient when you install.
Some applications take more time to download and to install than others.
But also you might not have a very fast internet connection - or stable for that matter.

Allways uninstall applications before you delete possible remaining files. Otherewise you might get issues with your OS.

I hope this in some ways can explain and help.

Well I did finally do the online install, I just replied just before your reply…like 2 seconds before…

it was the confirm files. Got rid of the confirm files from the copy and everything worked real fast and easy.

Glad to hear that @nModular. :+1:

Hope everything will work like a charm from now on.

Are you with Arturia? Do you have any more of the Mint Green Minilab device?
That’s going to replace this shoddy old MPK Mini but the question of what color remains.

No i’m an external moderator in the community. I and other external moderators are not Arturia employees.

So i don’t have the informations you ask for here.
