I currently own both an Audiofuse 16Rig and a Minilab 3 connected to the AF16R USB-Host port on the front.
However, when I’m using the MIDI Control Center, I’m unable to edit the Minilab 3 parameters, which is only possible when connecting the ML3 directly to my computer.
Can you please allow the MCC to edit parameters on the ML3 (or any Lab series product) when plugged into the USB Host port of the AF16R ?
The 16Rig MIDI Host port is not forwareded to the computer, so you cannot do that indeed.
It is not curently possible to achive what you asked.
We will add the possibility to use a MIDI controller from the host computer to control the 16Rig mixer in an update (short term udpate).
With this feature you will be able to do what you want.
I hope it’s not asking too much, but if you haven’t seen it, I made a few suggestions on other changes to the MIDI implementation that would be useful for software control in this thread:
If I had to pick the most important ones for me:
Directly addressing all of the channels without having to page
Being able to set the mute state absolutely to on or off, rather than togging its current state
+1 on those suggestions @tmoore - although in the medium/long term I’m hoping for more extensive improvements like some form of 2-way coms, MIDI control of the matrix, inputs, etc.
But for now your two suggestions would alleviate a big chunk of the pain associated with MIDI control of the 16Rig and represent very low hanging fruit in terms of effort required on the part of Arturia.
Arturia need to throw us a bone here - the 16Rig has been out long enough for the complaints about external MIDI control to pile up. Use as a live/DAWless mixer is one of the primary selling point for the device but the only realistic way to use it in this way is using MIDI control.
Right from the start, people have asked for improvements in this area and there is a constant trickle of similar requests from new owners.
