Control transport via midi footswitch

Hi. First time post so please excuse my ignorance. I have two questions.

First, I am looking for a hardware sequencer that can respond to a midi footswitch such as a Line 6 Helix or Boss Es-8. I play guitar and want to setup a foot switch to turn a sequencer on/off. The manual and midi implementation chart don’t seem very specific when it comes to transport controls like start/stop/record. I will be controlling a Korg Minilogue xd as well as a drum machine I haven’t chosen yet. Is this possible? It needs to support polyphony and 64 steps. Not sure if Beatstep or Keystep Pro would be good options.

Second, I’ve written songs in the box using soft synths and have converted to midi tracks and successfully sent them via midi to the minilogue xd. Is it easy to record midi from logic to either of these devices?

I’ve not found many good tutorials on YouTube that use this workflow as it seems specific to a band integrating electronic instruments as opposed to edm producers and the like. I don’t have free hands as I’ll be playing guitar most of the time.

Thanks in advance!!

Exactly my need. As a bassist my hands aren’t available to press start/stop.

I have built a homebrew midi pedal using a RPi micro so can send any midi string from any pedal.

It appears that the BS Pro doesn’t receive MMC unless it it using an external clock. It definitely SENDS CC51 for stop and CC54 for start, so I thought I could output those from my pedals but it does not appear to respond to them as incoming midi msgs.

Can anyone categorically confirm that it will respond to these INCOMING CC msgs and stop and start?

The information should help others who are looking for foot control.

Thank you.
