The problem starts with having no original adapter from the box.
Bought used microfreak, and I want to connect it as a slave through MIDI IN with elektron model cycles. I do have original adapter from elektron, but when it comes to connecting with microfreak there no reaction from the slave.
- I thought that random jack 3,5 to midi 5 pin will be enough, but it didn’t work
- I teamed up with person that worked with arturia in the past and even brought his own digitone and 3,5 to midi 5 pin cable to ensure that my cable isn’t at fault - still no reaction, and at the same time the elektron was able to receive midi from digitone
- I searched and found that there are different types of midi, and microfreak needs type B so I bought this: Befaco TRS-MIDI Cable B – Thomann United Kingdom and wanted to use 5 pin to 5 pin midi cable to connect them - still no positive result.
From what I’ve found on the Internet, there are people that used this adapter: Arturia Beatstep Pro Cable Kit – Thomann United Kingdom and it actually helped. Could somebody explain to me if buying this will solve my issue? And why it will happen? Why does the first mentioned cable doesn’t work being type B?
