Is it possible to vary the filter cutoff for individual steps of a sequence? So a sequence of 8 notes, the filter cutoff would change for each one (not over the total sequence but, say, high for the first note then low cutoff for 2 and 3, back to a high value for 4… and so on)?
You can use Functions and other modulators that’s synced.
Which modulator to use depend on the amount of control you want for each change.
For the example you mention, i think i would use Functions, as it sound like you wish high control.
Set the Functions Retrigger Source to SEQ START.
You can be very creative with Pigments modulation system.
I can for example recommend you look into the different retrigger source settings modulators can have.
I suggest you experiment.
I hope this helps.
Feel free to ask further if needed.
I appreciate your reply. I felt that the answer was in Functions but I couldn’t get it to work properly, in particular getting the modulation of the filter to match the sequence notes exactly. It seems I just need to look into it more and experiment with the settings.
You could also consider using the Velocity Lane in the SEQ to control the Filter Cutoff.
Apply Velocity Modulation to the Filter Cutoff and then you can apply an amount to each step of the sequence. Using this method allows up to 16 steps and if you experiment with different numbers of steps (say 6 or 12 steps) you can get some interesting polyrhythmic sequences.
