[BUG] Yet another bug... stuck notes on Keylab 61 mk3

Yet another bug in the Keylab mk3.

When playing glissandos and using a pedal (connected to AUX, used for MIDI CC80, which controls rotary speed on the Fantom-07), some notes sometimes get stuck.

The Keylab doesn’t send the “Note Off” message for random notes.

Has anyone else come across this bug?

So far this keyboard has been the worst purchase I’ve ever made. Great concept and great features, but absolutely dreadful implementation, making it totally unusable, but worse than that is all the hours I’ve wasted trying to troubleshoot the bloody thing.

Tech support have been very helpful. But the people who built the Keylab mk3 should be looking for a new career before they mess up any other Arturia product. One thing is sure, I’ll forever stay away from any hardware they make, and go back to trusted Japanese manufacturers.

Quick question are you connecting the KL directly to your computer or through a hub? If you’re connecting it through a hub, have you checked if you can manifest the same errors when connected directly to your computer?

Good point. I forgot to explain the setup.

It’s powered with an external PSU and connected to a Roland Fantom-07 with a 5-pin DIN MIDI cable.

So no computer or software involved.

HOWEVER, I have observed similar issues via USB and playing instruments in Logic / MainStage on a MacBook. No hub, connected directly to the laptop.

Firmware version 1.1.1 (the latest version, as of today 7th July 2025).

Thank you

The same thing has happened to me with the Arturia KeyLab mk3 88, also with firmware 1.1.1. Mine goes through Logic. I’ve spent ten+ hours working through the oddities/bugs and have work-arounds I’ve implemented through Logic which I’ll provide here in coming days. I also use the AUX for sustain, as the the sustain port insists on sending continuous control otherwise, no matter the settings.

Regarding the random stuck note, I’ve initiated a hotkey through Keyboard Maestro for a “panic button” (all notes off),and assigned it to the highest key on the 88, which would otherwise get no use. But it’s a nuisance and is always so jarring. Not helpful in performance.

Say, what brand of sustain pedal do you have?

– Gerry

I first tried one of my Roland DP-10 pedals. I have a few, and they work flawlessly with all my other keyboards (mostly Roland, but also a Native Instrument S61 mk2).

Because of the issue, I then tried with a Roland DP-2. Same problem. Then I bought a Yamaha FC4A with the hope that it might help (someone here with that pedal couldn’t notice the bugs). It didn’t help at all. It just cost me a lot of money.

I bought the Keylab 61 mk3 for live gigs specifically and so far it’s been an absolutely insane waste of money and waste of time, neither of which I can afford to spare these days.

Because of those bugs, the Keylab is by far the worst keyboard I’ve ever used. I’ve played dozens and dozens of keyboards in the past 35 years and I’ve never seen anything like this. I should have gone for a more reliable brand. The Novation 61SL mkIII for example has similar features (and more) but it is more expensive and doesn’t look as good in a rock band context. But I’m pretty sure it’s actually usable.

In all cases you are using the AUX port rather than the sustain. Is this true?

I am using AUX as well with similar issues. I could go back to using the sustain port and simply accept the continuous stream of CC data, but it makes a mess in the notation, with thousands of “ped.” indictions, which I have to clean up.

Do the random sustained keys happen if using the sustain port? And as an extension of whose bug it is, have you ever had this issue outside use with logic/Mainstage?
