[Bug]Pigments encoders jumping and stuttering values when used through NI Komplete Kontrol VST

When I use Komplete Kontrol with Native Instruments Synths I don’t have an issue when I turn the encoders of my S61. However if I run Pigments through Komplete Kontrol and turn the encoders on my S61 MK3 the values stutter and jump in increments instead of changing smoothly. The values also jump if I use my mouse while running Pigments through Komplete Kontrol. If I load Pigments without using Komplete Kontrol and I map a knob then the values change smoothly with the S61 MK3 but that sort of defeats the purpose of having this keyboard. Does anyone else have this issue?

I’m seeing the same thing on my Mac with the KK 3.2.0 VST (turning knobs with mouse), but the AU version seems to work ok. I’m not sure if that would indicate a problem with Arturia or with NI.

Other Arturia synths seem to work ok in VST KK, although the knobs still feel a little more “touchy” than they do when running the AU version.

I feel better knowing that I’m in not alone.

I am having this exact issue. Any solution?
Also experiencing an extremely slow interface on Pigments 6 standalone. The VST3 version works flawless withing my DAW, Cubase.

I have a sluggish interface with Pigments 6 in Komplete Kontrol, but no issues with the standalone. I noticed in KK the CPU goes up to around 8%, but that shouldn’t mean sluggishness.

Probably a KK issue, given that the Pigments standalone is fine - at least on my machine.

I also noticed that Pigments in KK in a DAW is unusable - well, you can play notes but as soon as you tweak a knob, it just stops, thinks a bit and comes back after 10s or so.

Sound like it is related to the issues i am experiencing. I’ve created a support case with Arturia for starters, we’ll see what they say.

Well, yesterday Pigments standalone seemed to work fine. I think it was related to my audio configuration. Perhaps my ASIO drivers was busy with some other application or something. Anyway, the only issue left is the stuttering within Komplete Kontrol.

A quick update. I’ve had support cases with both Native Instruments and Aurturia regarding this, and both have now confirmed it is a known issue and the will apply a solution in a future update. However, it is unknown when that might happen.

Awesome thanks for that. I’ve kind of given up myself and when I use Pigments I just use it in standalone to avoid issues. Keep us updated if you hear from either side!

Thanks from me too. I would just clarify my post earlier, i.e. that Pigments 6 is fine by itself in DAWs (FL Studio, Cubase, Reaper & Ableton) - it goes sleepy when it’s hosted by Komplete Kontrol.

Looking forward to an update, hopefully soon.

This is good know as I’m thinking of getting Native MK 61 keys but will keep my Mini Lab 3 for Arturia stuff me thinks.

Probably the smart thing to do. But as far as the NI S61 Mk3 keyboard goes at least they have midi templates that you can program if you want to be able to use the knobs with Pigments it does work that way just a little more work as far as mapping and labeling. (not within komplete Kontrol vst since that is buggy for me at least but just Pigments loaded as a VST in ableton works for me as far as mapping knobs with the S61 MK3 keyboard and it works smoothly)

Yep - that’s what I’m going to do with my S61. There’s a MIDI template sharing thread over on the NI forums. If I get chance to finish a Pigments template, I’ll share it.

I just opened up Komplete Kontrol and loaded Pigments in, and it still stutters when moving the knobs.

Then I thought I’d manually load in the VST2 of Pigments (rather than the VST3) and was surprised to find no stuttering!

Can someone else try this to confirm? It would be a handy workaround.

Nice find, i can confirm the VST2 version works much better than the VST3. Not sure what the practical difference is, other than VST3 is a newer format.
I will inform Arturia and NI about this in the support cases.
By the way, both of them said we could not expect them to inform us when it is fixed, but they ask that we keep an eye out on the release notes.
