[Bug?]MiniFreak V unresponsive when running on battery powered laptop

So I bought self a MiniFreak last week. Of course I almost immediately installed the MiniFreak V app and VST on my laptop.
I installed version 3.0.0.5386.

The first time I started the app, I noticed it did not respond to any mouse clicks or whatsoever. The oscillator and LFO graphs did update, but menu’s wouldn’t open, keypresses were not recognised etc. etc.

I tried installing an older version of the app, but ran into the same issue.

At some point my laptop battery was nearly depleted, so I plugged in the power supply.
I reinstalled the latest version and started the app. It was responsive! I thought this might be due to reinstalling it.

But today I started the app again while running on battery. And again, the app (and VST) did not respond. So I took the opportunity to check if the power could be an issue. And it is! After plugging in the power supply, the app was responsive. Disconnecting the power supply (with the app open!) and the app stopped responding. Plugging in the power, and it worked correctly again.

So there seems to be a relation with having the power supply connected or not.

Perhaps the (software) development team can check if there is a check in the code on whether or not the system is running on battery or not.

Anyway, I wanted to share my findings here in case someone else ran into the same issue

Thanks @matjones for the quick response.

I’ve got a small update on this topic.

After failed attempts to solve the issue by tweaking power settings in Windows 11, I installed the MicroFreak V app on another Windows 11 laptop.

This second laptop did not show any issue at all while running on battery. So it might be difficult to reproduce the defect.

FYI the laptop having issues is a Lenovo Legion 5. The second is a HP ZBook Fury.

Hi and thanks for the update, that’s an odd one for sure and one of the reasons many of us prefer to use desktop machines. Obviously though, budgets/wants and needs differ for different people.
Good to see you at least have a viable option available to you.
