Just what the title says. After opening one of my patches in standalone mode, the combinators seem to have forgotten the remapped modulation sources…at least Random 1 & 2; I haven’t tested this with different modulation sources. They are remembered when you reassign them via the “Source” menu. This issue does not occur in the VST3 version. Only in standalone.
Can you please provide a step by step guide to reproduce the issue?
Using the Default preset I’ve tried to select Random 1 as source for a remap in a Combinator. When i close the application and open it again, nothing has changed.
What exactly do you mean by this? If that’s not what you’ve already done at first, then what did you do first?
Okay, I did some further testing, so let me start over…
Firstly, the problem only occurs in standalone mode. Also, it seems to be exclusive to remapped Random modulators…but only when they are unipolar. I tried to reproduce the problem with the regular LFOs and they remap with no issues in the Combinaters, so this only happens with unipolar Random modulators.
Another thing to keep in mind is the Combinater settings: Remap mode. Draw a square shape with two points at 0 and two points at 1, or vice versa, just as long as the remapped modulations are forced to minimum/maximum values…and then turn the “Amount” all the way up…
Assign a unipolar Random modulator as a “Combinate Source”. Any modulation target will do. Save the patch, open a different one, then reopen it. You should see the following problem: The remapped Random modulation is forced to the combinator’s maximum value, and stays there; it does not modulate down to the minimum value.
This does not happen in the VST3 version, wherein the remapped Random modulations will modulate up and down from minimum to maximum values as intended.
My guess for why this occurs (in standalone) is that the Combinater has somehow forgotten that the Random modulator is unipolar, and is waiting for values below 0 that never arrive, so everything is forced to 1 and stays there.
How do you understand the remap? What do the X,Y coordinates mean to you? How do you understand it work?
Perhaps it’s a matter of where you draw that square you mention?
Can you post the preset you have made? Then i can try the exact same.
I do think it’s strange, your issue is only in standalone mode.
I will not yet rule out there can be a glitch sometimes, when using the Random/ Random Polarity switch.
