Browsing Presets: Why are preset & Parameter names not showing on the Minilab

I was pretty sure the Minilab 3 was able to display preset names when you browsed in Analog lab, but neither browsing nor selecting a preset does display the name on the controller?
Why is that? All it shows is: Arturia instead of the preset name. And when turning knobs it only temporarily displays “knob1”, “knob2” etc
Behaviour is the same in Analog Lab V Standalone or as a VST plugin (opened and selected) in Ableton Live.

Everything else seems to work ok, including controls etc
Thank you for your input on this, as this is the main reason why I bought this controller

Ps: I have the 37 key version, all firmwares and software up to date

Hi @super8boy. Welcome back.

It should work, as far as i can tell from the Analog Lab video here:
https://www.arturia.com/products/hybrid-synths/minilab-37/resources
Perhaps the info in the video can help.

Have you in Analog Labs Right panel Settings chosen you your controller as Midi Controller?
Are your Audio and Midi settings in Analog Lab (standalone) correct?
Have you set MiniLab in the correct mode? That’s Arturia mode i believe.

Thanks for the prompt reply.
I followed the videos.
It’s a funny one.
I went to the Audio/Midi settings and enabled everything but it’s behaving really funny.
I can browse on analog lab standalone, but it won’t show preset or parameters on the minilab.

On ableton live, I can’t seem to navigate through the presets even.
Interestingly, Ableton wasn’t fully up to date (as 12.2.7 to 12.4 requires a manual reinstallation). 12.4 seems to have fixed the Transport button behaviour (as Play/Stop etc wasn’t working on 12.2.7),
but browsing in analog lab still didn’t work initially (despite having it set up exactly like the screenshots from the Arturia Support page for Minilab) - EDIT: It did work when I clicked on preferences Icon on the right and chose Minilab 3 from the list. But why can’t it remember my favourite controller (both within the DAW and more importantly within Analog Lab Standalone - What everyone wants is Plug & Play - In Ableton LIve, only workaround seems to be creating a Template Set, or an instrument rack preset with that right Analog Lab setting maybe)

Another anothing thing is how analog lab V seemingly can’t remember the audio/midi preferences, nor the controller I’ve set up, so everytime I open it up I have to reset all that.
How is that an acceptable behaviour? Am I missing something?
The idea is to minimize the use of the mouse for mindless tasks

You are welcome.

Once set, this should be remembered until you change it your self afaik. So i don’t understand if that’s not the case.
Audio and Midi settings should be remembered.
The controller you set in Analog Lab’s right panel under the Settings tab should be remembered.
I can suggest you clean Analog Lab preferences through Arturia Software Center (ASC) and redo the settings, if they are not remembered. perhaps that will help then.

I don’t know, if it is different from the Generic controller setting i use.

I don’t have a controller to test with. I’m not an Arturia employee - just a user and external moderator.

So the fix was to install the Midi control centre, then restart the computer, if anyone struggles with this after installation.
Now all works as it should on the Minilab.

Other question, in Analog Lab, can one simultaneously use a Minilab 3 and a Keylab for instance? or does that cause conflicts in the same way as Kontrol S Native Instruments controllers do with Native Kontrol

Good you found a solution.

I can’t tell. In some cases there might be conflicts in others perhaps not.
I assume it depend on how much of the communication between a certain controller and Analog Lab depend on the correct controller setting in Analog Lab.
Also the layouts are different for different controllers.
I do think i recall conflicts have been reported in the past. But i don’t know, if that still apply. I suggest you contact Arturia support through your account and ask about it.
