Astro Lab 61 connected to computer and audio card. I’ve always been able to hear all sounds. One day the B3 stopped making sound. All other sounds still play. I hadn’t done any updates or changes that I recall. I have an expression pedal and on off switch connected. Using them makes no difference. B3 in standalone app, virtual keyboard produces sound, but not astrolabe 61. I just installed collection 11 pro. It failed on install and recommended install from so which I did. Install that way succeeded. Everything stayed the same. Can play and hear all sounds except b3.
Have you changed the MIDI channel of the AstoLab’s keyboard? (default is Ch 1)
Most B-3V presets are programmed to respond only on Ch1 (upper), Ch2 (lower) and Ch3 (bass pedals).
Also, keep in mind that the lower octave of the upper and lower manuals are not notes, but drawbar presets (inverted keys on the B-3V instrument, and on a real B3). If you transpose the AstroLab keyboard by one octave down, the lowest keys of the keyboard won’t play notes but switch presets (the preset on the lowest C has all drawbars at 0, therefore no sound after selecting that preset).
First of all, thanks.
So I opened my daw and connected to a non arturia plug-in to check the midi coming out of that al61. It worked. I noticed the midi input was set to all.
Then I loaded the b3 into the daw… I saw al61 main midi channel was set to 1 and set daw input to Omni and I got sound. It’s possible in my movements on the keys I may have hit a present key and brought it back to life with sound. OR (this is a biggie!)
I noticed on al61 there’s another seeing for midi that I hadn’t seen, key l"keyboard channel". I think it was on ch 4. I set it to 1 and heard the to manual, set to 2 and heard the lower manual, set to 3 and heard the pedals as explained by Sean. Progress!
Went back into standalone b3 v2 and got sound!
When not producing sound through the daw or analog lab I can hear the b3 when I play the keyboard. That’s great.
Now I’m just confused about analog lab. Does analog lab receive midi and play the sound through the soundcard? I don’t have it linked, I have the midi set to 1 in analog lab and keyboard channel set to 1 in al61, but I hear nothing. If I turn up the volume on the al61 I hear sound. But if expect to hear midi generated sound from analog lab without the keyboard volume up.
Thanks again
