Automate/Control the amount of Modulation during live performance

Hi,

I’m looking for a way to automate during live performance the amount of Modulation sent to a parameter.

For example in this case I have modulation ENV2 being sent to control the filter cutoff and during live performace i want to be able to decrease/increase this amount but because these parameters are not accesible for mapping i’m not able to do this.

In u-He plugins like “Hive” for example, there’s a dedicated parameter knob to control the amount of modulation/Lfo which can me mapped and controlled live but here in Pigments it seems this is not possible.

This is by far my favourite plugin so far but this feature seems to be the only thing missing here. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hi @AndreGM. Welcome to the community.

You can for example use the modulators Sidechain feature to do this.
For example you can apply a MACRO control to sidechain the ENV modulator. Then the Macro will work like a AMP control for the Envelope.

Also in the filter you show you have KBD set as modulator. You can for example select an Envelope instead of KBD as modulator there by clicking the KBD. Then that knob will work like an Amount for the Envelope.

You can also use the Combinators.

You have many creative possibilities.

Do what work best for you.

EDIT: You can also use Function in Envelope mode and use the Functions Scale knob, if you wish. EDIT END

Thank you for the reply LBH! I just noticed i was missing a crucial mindblowing detail when assigning macros do parameters.

I was dropping macros over the knob instead of dropping it into the modulation itself, which is the little small blue circle bellow the knob modulation. Now when i increase Macro 2 i can control the amount of the 3 LFOs being sent to the cutoff.

Pigments is pure <3 what and amazing plugin

Leaving this screenshot in case someone missed this detail too (A clear reminder that I should have read the manual before jumping into making music xD)

All the best :fist_right: :fist_left:

Yes this is one of the ways to apply the modulator sidechain that i suggested.
Another way is through the center modulation strip, if you go into a modulator.

I think it’s always a good idea to explore and try out a synths possibilities. That can even give inspiration. Pigments can do so many creative things.

So nice to read that you’re enjoying Pigments a lot!
