Audiofuse as monitor controller for 16Rig?

TL;DR: would Audiofuse Rev2 function well as a monitor controller for 16rig? Any better/ more cost effective options?

I’ve just purchased a 16Rig and since I plan to keep it racked just out of reach from my listening spot, I would really like a desktop controller for ergonomics’ sake. After looking into various monitor controllers, I find that most reasonably-priced, passive options are unreliable long-term and have conflicting reports about whether they affect the sound quality or not. I’d prefer to avoid these headaches if possible, so it occurred to me that I might be able to use the audiofuse Rev2 to fill that role via ADAT. It would give me a few more inputs and headphone outputs conveniently on the desktop to boot.

I’m curious if this would work as intended over ADAT. Does the 16rig have better output converters? Would the smaller audiofuse introduce additional latency? I also have a fuse 8xOUT on the way, so I think the 16rig will have to be the master. Is a passive controller the best solution? or a simple Midi mapped controller? I’ve had experience with RME’s ARC controller and enjoyed it; I can’t find a similar offering for Arturias interfaces, however.

That was a bit of a brain-dump, I know, but any insights however small would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
