Audiofuse 16rig: Help with Gain-staging Outboard Gear

Howdy everyone,

I’m trying to integrate outboard preamps and compressors with my 16rig… I’ve got the output of my Wa-73 Eq going into one of the back line inputs on the 16rig. I’ve got the insert send on the preamp going to another input on the 16rig, with the input return plugged into an output. Separately, I’ve got a wa-76 compressor set up on another 16rig in/out. Yes, I know i could just hook the compressor into the preamp insert directly, and bypass the 16rig altogether. but i don’t want to do things that way, i want flexibility in routing. I’m having trouble gain staging my inputs/outputs between the preamp, 16rig ins/outs, and the. compressor. It always seems that one of the 16 rig inputs is either clipping waaaay too hard, or getting hardly any audible signal at all… Is anyone else using the 16rig ins/outs as “hardware inserts” successfully? Are there any resources for gain-staging hardware with the 16rig that i should be looking at? Thanks in advance.

Hey, have you tried to manage the volume either with the 16Rig Inputs Gain and PAD or 16Rig Ouputs Trim knobs?

Bests,

Howdy, I did a fair amount of tinkering and honestly kind of gave up. I could get it to technically work, just wasn’t getting the desired results consistently. I ended up just putting the 76 compressor into the 73 as an insert directly.
