AudioFuse 16Rig // Dropouts on Sequoia (brand new M4 Mac Mini)

Hi there,

I added a new M4 Mac Mini (base config) to my studio setup and experience repeating audio dropouts (every 20-30 secs) with the AudioFuse 16 Rig. It´s a clean MacOS Sequoia Install (Mini is brand new) with only Ableton and Spotify app added to the system so far. AudioFuse is connected via USB-C and a Pro-Grade, powered USB Hub.

I am running a Macbook Pro M1 with Sonoma as well, same hardware USB Hub connection, crowded with Plugins, softsynths and other software and do not have any issues at all.

Is there any known compatibility issues with sequoia? Is it recommended yet? Can´t change the OS of new hardware …

Thank you
A.

My experience is not exactly the same as yours since I’m on a Windows 10 system but I’m using Sequoia and 16rig without any problems.

Although the manual isn’t clear on the subject I’ve had problems similar to the ones you describe when plugging the 16rig to a USB2 port. It only works fine when connected to a USB3 port.
That’s my experience, of course. I can’t speak for others and every computer system is different and behaves differently.

Also I’m not using a hub to connect the 16rig.
Maybe that’s a problem, no?

I don’t think Arturia has yet cleared any of their products for use with Sequoia, which may or may not be the issue, but probably it is if your M1 Macbook running Sonoma is working totally fine with the device. I don’t know why Arturia are dragging their heels so much this year. Literally every purchaser of a new Mac since October 2024 is running an OS that Arturia apps and firmware haven’t been officially patched to support.

Compatibility - macOS Sequoia – Arturia FAQ

Well, as i said in my post, Sequoia works with 16rig without any constraints.

What is really deserving some attention in @Alex_S 's problem are two other situations:

  1. Sequoia is Windows only so, using it on a Mac indicates there is the need for some type of porting wich may cause some incompatibilities.
Namely, M4 Macs are not compatible with BootCamp.
  2. A USB Hub is being used wich may also cause some of the problems described.

Other than that, Sequoia and 16rig match perfectly.

Hello.

Be careful not to mix MacOS Sequoia (latest Mac version) and Sequoia Pro (the DAW that is not very well known).

Alex is talking about Mac version.
Resolectric is talking about the DAW.

Am I right ?

@Tim.Arturia you are so right!

I am talking about Magix’s Sequoia DAW :grinning:

In that case may I suggest that .2 in my list (the use of a usb hub) may still be the cause for the instability.

P.S.: I sincerely hope Magix gets a few trillions in indemnity from Apple for the use of the same name in concurrent markets :smirk:

Seems unlikey unless one of them additionally TM’d the species of Californian redwood tree tree they both ‘stole’ for a product name

Well… that could be IF the tree name was a brand or a product, wich it isn’t.
Same for the word Audio or the word Fuse.

Business wise, as trademarks go, there is a certain incompatibility between two companies that create products that can be used (and ARE used) in the same fields to use the same product name for a different product.
And that is clearly visible from this topic: in a Audio Forum, a user mentions a brand name and another user (me) assumes he’s talking about an audio-industry product.
He wasn’t. He was talking about a computer product.
But since we use computers in the audio industry, a problem arises.

. Is Sequoia compatible with Sequoia?
. I am using Sequoia and my soundcard is showing an incompatibility.

Would you assume the poster is talking about a tree?

No. I would, and did, assume he was talking about MacOS Sequoia (which he was),
OP literally said:

“It´s a clean MacOS Sequoia Install (Mini is brand new) with only Ableton and Spotify [installed]”

I think he made it perfectly clear that he wasn’t talking about a $1500 Windows-only DAW aimed at mastering engineers. But no harm done. You were genuinely trying to help, which is always good. No-one wants to discourage that. Absolutely keep doing it.

Kind regards,

You’re right!
I immediately assumed I misunderstood the Sequoia the OP was referring to.
I understood it was a Sequoia (DAW) install under a Mac OS of some type, using Bootcamp.
Hence mentioning it in my reply.
All due to misunderstanding.

It is much more than that.
It’s a very complete DAW that allows its user to do everything one can do with ProTools or Nuendo, Logic or Pyramix and that excels in some very exclusive features.
It’s really a joy to operate, as is its simpler and more popular version Samplitude.

I do not work for Magix but I wholeheartedly recommend Sequoia for those who wish to do professional production under a Windows OS.

Oh, I will. It seems to be a nice place to hang out and so far, pretty civilized.
I am not an Arturia or 16rig expert but I work in audio since 1979 so I sometimes may feel I can help.
And despite English not being my native language I believe we can all understand each other.

Thanks for the nice conversation!
