Has anybody tried to route the Audio Fuse 16 rig for surround sound or Dolby Atmos?
I’ve used it for 5.1 surround, but the new 2.0 firmware update added support for immersive monitoring, up to 16 speakers in any configuration, including 9.1.6 for Atmos.
It also provides bass management for LFE/Sub.
Very straightforward.
Thank you! I am getting ready to purchase one. I am currently using a PreSonus Studio Live 32R but it is set up strange. When I mix in Stereo you have to assign to 37/38 outs for monitoring which is odd. I have started creating animation using Adobe Software which requires a 1/2 outs. So I have to switch back & forth between my DAW 37/38 outs to Adobe 1/2 outs which is very annoying. I want an Audio Interface that uses 1/2 outs. I don’t why PreSonus set that unit up this way. Maybe because it was intended more for live music. Anyway one more question if you don’t mind. I am using a Mac Studio with the OS Sequoia 15.4. I read where the 16 rig is not ready for that OS version. Have you heard anything about that? I really do appreciate you answering the surround question.
The AF16Rig’s matrix can route any input (Analog, ADAT or USB) to any output.
It’s a routing/patching matrix, not a summing matrix. i.e. you can only route one input to one or several outputs, not combine multiple inputs on one output.
But the 16Rig also has 2 stereo mixers (main mix with 4 aux sends, and a cue mix) that allow combining any number of inputs to some outputs.
I don’t know about Sequoia and the 16Rig,
Arturia had posted a warning when Sequoia was first released, recommending to wait before upgrading to macOS 15 (as most software manufacturers do when there’s a new Apple OS). It now says that there no known issues with current products (only with some legacy products), but I don’t think it’s fully validated yet.
You could try downloading the AFCC utility (AudioFuse Control Center) from the Arturia website: AFCC for Mac OS download
The latest version was released in January 2025, so it should be current. At least you could see if it installs and opens OK on Sequoia, but it won’t allow you to do anything else without an AudioFuse connected to the computer.
Thank you!
So if I mix in stereo thru the main monitors and then switch to let’s say 7.1 surround the stereo front monitors stay assigned to the 1L & 2R and then 3/4 outputs - 5/6 outputs output 7 for the LFE. Is there anyway you could send me a screen shot of your 5.1 mix. My biggest concern is leaving the fronts stay in 1L & 2R while in surround mix and not repatching. I cannot tell you I how am so grateful to you for responding to me.
The Way I have my 7.1 set up for the 32R - Fronts - Aux 1&2 - Center output 3 - LFE - output 4
Side Rears - outputs 5&6 - Rears - outputs 7&8 - Please disregard the last reply.
How would you set up 7.1 for Audio Fuse 16 rig? Again thank you!!!
The way I have my AF16Rig outputs setup for speakers:
- Monitor L/R (1&2): Main Stereo / Fronts for 5.1
- Outputs 3&4: Aux1/2 (as these outputs are duplicated on the front of the unit and can be used for various effects inserts or for reamping)
- Outputs 5&6: Rears L/R
- Output 7: Center
- Output 8: Sub/LFE
- Outputs 9&10: Alt stereo speakers (for A/B Stereo speakers switching)
If you want to setup a 7.1 system without adding an AFX8 Out (8 additional outputs), you can “sacrifice” either the Alt/B speakers, or the Aux L/R to add Sides L/R speakers.
With only one AFX8 Out (you can add 2, total), you could keep the Stereo A/B + 5.1 setup as above, and use 2 of the extra outputs for Sides L/R. This leaves you 6 more outputs to go to 9.1.4 (Wide L/R, Top/overhead front L/R and Top/overhead rear L/R)
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I am purchasing one today. If I need any further guidance may I contact you again!
