The firmware update 1.6.0 is now available for all 3 AstroLab models (37 / 61 / 88).
Please note that before updating your AstroLab, you first need to update Analog Lab V to its newest version (at least 5.12.2.6463).
The update instructions are found here
And in case of error, please refer to the “AstroLab Update Fails” section of the Troubleshoot page here
Depending which version you are updating from, the update process itself can take over 30mn with a good internet connection.
Make sure you are not downloading/installing any other large files/programs while the AstroLab Update is ongoing.
If you have a slow internet connection, it is recommended to download the AstroLab firmware file (over 7GB) first from the resources page , and then do a manual “Update from file”, rather than an online update.
Are there release notes with it?
I’m particularly interested in knowing whether Arturia are going to make the Pure LoFi instrument better suited to the Astrolab as videos are showing note stealing from 2-3 notes polyphony…
Thanks
I have two questions related to the 1.6.0 update (I’m on Astrolab-61 and MacOS):
Anyone else experiencing incredibly slow download speeds for the firmware file? My internet is fine, so wondering whether it’s on Arturia’s side. (Tried to download the file for manual update).
When I tried the online update, I got a prompt 2mins in from MacOS whether I wanted to allow access to “Rockchip USB tool” or something like that. Seems like a flash utility when I searched but not mentioned on any Arturia site so didn’t give permission.
Update for anyone else curious about the Rockchip USB tool: I put in a ticket with the Arturia support team, and they confirmed that “Rockchip USB download gadget” (that’s the official name in the MacOS prompt) is indeed a utility used by Arturia onboard the Astrolab.
Apparently it’s tied to recovery mode, which tracks because in my case, the Astrolab update kept getting interrupted and at some point the device probably gave up trying and wanted to go into recovery mode. You can also verify this in Analog Lab (if connected) as it’ll show version 0.0.0, which support explained is the “boot loader”.
Hope this is useful to anyone else who comes across this during the update process.
Oh, I am really interested to see if Arturia decided to optimize Pure LoFi (and the Augmented Series) similarly to Pigments 7 which was massively optimized.
On my quite big but quite old PC, Pure LoFi is by far the most CPU intensive, which is pretty annoying
That’s actually great Arturia settled with a low consumption hardware ; that’ll force them to make their instruments more efficient !
