I’m trying to use KeyLab to assign different sounds in different flows (movements) in a Dorico score. I can assign the first sound in the first movement in a synthesizer instrument. In the next movement I created a new synthesizer and assigned a different sound to it, but it changed the sound in the first movement (and first instrument) as well.
Someone in the Dorico community suggested I assign a separate midi channel for the second sound, but I can’t figure out how to do that.
Is that the right answer, or is there another way to use more than one Keylab sound in the same score?
With the greatest of respect, this sounds like a lack of familiarity with setting up MIDI assignments within Dorico and not a specific Arturia issue. Someone may be able to help here but it would be good to try and find a Dorico Forum or Facebook Group.
Just for clarification: Keylab is not a sound source. Its just a MIDI controller.
If you have loaded two instances of an instrument (sound source), then the first instrument should not change, when you create the other. So perhaps you have loaded one instrument and not two and use the same instrument for two sounds. That would explain why what you experience.
I went to the Dorico forum first. They think it’s an Arturia issue. I have assigned different VSTs to different instruments in Dorico before without problem. It’s only when I use the KeyLab sounds that this happens.
Also, I’m using the sounds that come with the KeyLab 88, so in this case it’s not just a midi controller, it is also the sound source.
I agree. The question is, how do I load more than one instrument? I have two different tracks in Dorico. They’re in the same port but on different channels. I choose one for the first, then another for the second, but the first one switches to the second.
No Keylab have no sounds as @Funtmaster say. It’s a controller and nothing else.
Analog Lab is a sound source.
How to load more than one instrument is about how it’s done in Dorico.
I assume like shown in this Dorico Video:
