Most of my Macs are modern and run the latest macOS 36 Tahoe.
But I have an old MacBook Air 11" that I like for its small size. It is not fast, but it is adequate for writing and playing a little music. It is limited to High Sierra and Mojave with a patch. These are seven years old.
I hadn’t used it for a while, and when I fired it up, I decided to update my extensive Arturia software collection. ASC went merrily on its way, installing the latest versions and purchases.
When I launched Analog Lab, it crashed! It turns out that many plug-ins and apps are no longer compatible.
ASC should know about that and the OS limitation and stay on the older versions.
I have noticed that on macOS, Arturia does not follow the guidelines in the Info.plist in the apps and bundles. Bundle signatures and OS version limitations are missing.
I notified Support a while back, but this has not been remedied. It does not take work, only ATTENTION.
Meanwhile, is there a list of app and plug-in compatibility by OS version? Doing this by trial and error is ridiculous. These products are not cheap!!!
Sorry to hear you’re experiencing this, i do think it’s worth mentioning that it’s always worth checking the latest requirements when dealing with a machine that’s not running the most recent OS, particularly ones over 5 years old or so.
It might be worth you logging in to your account to see if Arturia Support can furnish you with some earlier installers that will run on your system.
I never saw a list.
I have been a software developer for decades. Installers for both macOS and Windows can be set up with ONE parameter to check for OS version. They will refuse to install on an OS that is too low.
Arturia makes beautiful instruments. But the packaging is VERY sloppy. There is no excuse for it. It takes literally MINUTES to do this right.
In the Arturia Download page, you can see that all the latest / current Arturia software require Mac OS 11 (Big Sur) minimum (since December 2023 or so).
You can find the previous versions by clicking on the “Show archives” box. Some required Mac OS 10.15 or higher, some were still Ok on Mac OS 10.13 (High Sierra), etc, …
By the way, Tahoe is not yet certified by Arturia (and many other software developers):
