Arturia Software Collection - What is the best sampler to use within the V9 suite?

Hi,

Just looking for opinions on what might be the best sampler to utilize within the Arturia V 9 Collection. I want to load one off samples in a set range(s) of keys and be able to play them with my feet via my MIDI Pedals I have, Studiologic model MPK117. I do not want to load them in a DAW, just something standalone that I can access by itself (sampler software) and play the sounds/samples. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Dave

Hi,
In VC9, there are 3 instruments that can load user samples and assign them to key ranges:

  • Emulator II V (the easiest one, up to 8 samples per preset)
  • CMI V (up to 10 samples per preset)
  • Synclavier V (up to 12 samples per preset)

Hey @OtisRocks64

ANY of the above that @Sean_W mentions will do the job nicely…

My own personal ‘quick and dirty’ sampler is the EMU V, it’s just so quick and easy to use, VERY ‘old-school’ and just so easy to work with.

HTH!

Emulator II V is by far the easiest of the bunch. But that’s not to say it isn’t deep. If you want layers and splits, for example, it is just as fluid as can be. All that said, the DAW samplers tend to be very light on CPU. I use Drum Racks and Simpler on Ableton for live use all the time and I’ve not had one crash in over 120 shows…

EXACTLY!
Even though it DOES have some depth, it’s still VERY easy to get to grips with, which is the main reason i go for it every time, even over Cubase’s built-in sampler.
